What a masterpiece by the maestro! It is surprising to note the few number of views. I guess most people are more interested in the present day inexperienced lot. What a shame!

Na Bhooto na Bhavishyati except of course by Sri Sri Sri Dikshtiar alone. Looks DKJ is a personification, rather re-personification of Dikshitar. What a rendiition Never heard of such a wonderful composition. nor read about it. Mystifying experienie.i No words to express except to say truth is stranger than fiction.

DKJ is irreplaceable. recently i see young artists singing the words wrongly. For example ambudhi garva nigraham - but i was shocked to hear in a concert the person to sing it as ambudhi sarva nigraham! The whole meaning of the kirithi itself was lost. One can never come across by our old heroes like DKJ, DKP, MDR, SEMMANGUDI etc.

Well, lyrical blunders are aplenty in Carnatic Music. Even here if you observe carefully DKJ (almost all artists) sing "ambu vidambana kanTam kaNTikrutha dashakanTam", whereas it should be kambu vidambana kanTam khan"Di"krutha Dashakantam. Kambu means a conch (conch shaped neck) whereas if you replace ambu it makes NOSENSE. Ambu =water in Samskrit
:) khanDana means to destroy, kanTikrutha doesnt make sense here.

What a Clarity ! Soundara Rajam Ashraye Ragam: Brindavana Saranga (aka Brindaavani) (22ndth Mela janyam) Talam: Rupakam : Mutthuswami Dikshitar Krithi
It was composed at the soundararAja perumAl swamy temple at nAgapattinam in the praise of Lord SoundararAja. The krithi is heavily loaded, capturing the expanse of this rAgA in its entirety. The pallavi starts off with a wonderful R M R S phrase and the rendu kalai rUpakam gets its beauty in this krithi. Every word falls beautifully in the samam and it is a real treat to sing
I seek refuge in the beautiful Lord, the Lord who blessed the elephant in the forest of elephants. He is the dear son of Nanda, He is the ruler of Nagapattanam. He is the Lord of beautiful Rama. He is the great Lord praised by the divinities. He has a gently smiling lotus-like face, in his lotus-like hands he holds the Mandara mountain, his lotus-like eyes give delight, and he has even more beautiful lotus-like feet. Written and composed by Muthuswami Dikshithar, it is set to the Raga Brindavani, also called Brindavana Saranga (The forest of elephants by some.) There is a reference to Gajendra Moksham in the first line of the song and even the name of the raga evokes the thought of green and cool forests with dappled sunlight and rippling pools of water, humming with the presence of elephants all around. Like many other Carnatic Kritis, the song is a just a list of identifiers for Vishnu to whom this prayer is addressed The beauty of the song is in the raga and the melody

    Translation
I seek refuge (AshrayE) in the beautiful Lord (sowndara rAjam), the Lord (rAjam) who blessed (gave a boon to) the elephant (gaja) in the forest of elephants (brindAvana sAranga).
He is the dear son (nandana) of Nanda, He is the ruler (rAjam) of Nagapattanam. He is the Lord (rAjam) of the beautiful Rama (name of Lakshmi). He is the great (mahi) Lord (rAjam) praised (vinuta) by the divinities (sura).
He has a gently smiling (mandasmita) lotus-like (ambujam) face (mukha), in his lotus-like (ambujam) hands (kara) he holds (dhara) the Mandara mountain, his lotus-like (ambujam) eyes (nayana) give delight (nandana kara), and he has even more beautiful (sundaratara) lotus-like (ambujam) feet (pada).
He is the father (janakam) of the enemy (vairI) of Shiva (shambhara) [alludes to Madana]. He is worshipped (sannuta) by Shuka and Shaunaka. He is understood (viditam) by sages such as Ambarishi. He is the eternet (anAdi) joy (muditam) of Guruguha (signature of Dikshithar).
He is worshipped (nutam) by the Lotus-seated one (ambujAsanA) [refers to Lakshmi? or Brahma?) etc (Adi). He is praised (sannutam) by Indra (amarEsha) etc (Adi). He subjugated (nigraham) the pride (garva) of the ocean (ambudhi). He removes (apaham) the sorrow (dukha) arising from falsehood (anrta) and stupidity (jada).
His neck (kanTam) is like (vidambana) a conch (kambu). He tore into pieces (khandIkrta) the ten-necked one (dasha kanTam) [alludes to Ravana]. He is worshipped (nutam) by Tumburu (a greet seer and singer). He is the destroyer (apaha) of sins (durita). He resides (implied) in VaikunTam (Vishnu’s heaven).
Ragam BrindAvana sArangA , is a desya raga derived from the 22nd mela Kharaharapriya. A minor raga, capable of giving a tranquilizing effect it has the following
    Aro: S R2 M1 P N3 S Av: S N2 P M1 R2 G2 R2 S
Ri, Ma and Ni figure both as jiva svara and nyasa svara. Ga is only used sparingly in this rAgam and some books differentiate between brindAvana sArangA and brindAvanI based on the usage of Ga. There is also lot of confusion between the two rAgams based on the usage of Ni. For example, T.M.Krishna in a lecture demonstration says Brindavanasaranaga has only Kaishiki nishada and NO kakali . Brindavani as we understand it TODAY has both nishada. there was a time when brindavasarana and brindavani referred to the same raga which had only kaishiki nishada and no kakali nishada..

What a grand rendition of this great compo by DKJ ! Takes one to Divinity,no doubt about that. Especially if one has visited Nagapattinam and seen the idol Sundararaja Perumal, this rendition should be listened with the beauty of that perumal in mind to enjoy the greatness of Dikshitar.
