I like the 2000-05 Impalas myself. If somebody GAVE me an 06 or later, i mean, i'd take it.....who would turn down a free car?? 😂 Thanks for sharing, Jay!
My friend has an 06 & luckily it’s a 3.5 NOT A 3.6 car. It’s beat up & has needed a lot of work in the last year but she’s still going with 204,000 miles. But the transmission is starting to go.
We have a 2016 Elantra with the 1.8, so a base model, been a good car over 6 1/2 years with close to 130,000 miles on it. Its never given us a problem. The Forte is the same car, also a good car. I know the 2.4's aren't good motors, but the 1.8's and 2.0's are good motors.
I like any modern Impala thats not equipped with the 3.6 engines. My brother-in-law had an 01 with the 3800. My cousin had an 08 with the 3500. Both good cars. Drove em both. Say hi to Charlie.
My sister had nothing but bad luck with Kia and Hyundai cars with the GDi. Two of them blew holes in a piston just from normal use and driving. Dealer was not surprised, so she guessed it was a normal problem. Must've been unlucky and gotten a couple of those "bad batch" engines hahahaha. Or maybe the "batch" was everything from 2015 to 2019, the last model they bought before they moved on.
My wife got a 2012 KIA Optima from her daughter who got it from her dad (wife's ex, bought right before they got divorced haha) that had the engine replaced by KIA. I already put some of that GDI cleaner for the intake valves. Guess you're supposed to do that every 10K miles. Is the alternator a common issue with these cars? Great video Jay, hello from Lubbock, TX!
3800- likely valve covers need replaced. Those gm wheel bearings always go bad and so does the suspension. But yeah I had a 2005 Grand Prix, great car. Also change those plastic coolant elbows if it hasn’t been done yet.
Love a good video from you Jay. My favorite Impala bodystyles are the 90s and early 2000s. Looks like another interesting day at the shop. Can't wait for more videos coming!
Hey Jay! i gotta question for ya. does your buick century make a clackkity-clack noise at idle or so like a lifter tick or piston slap? i just wanna know if i’m the only one. it goes away as soon as you accelerate
Got a 2000 impala 3.4l engine, but a problem mine has is water leaks through the cowl, into the passenger floor. Research says this is a common problem. Any ideas how to correct this?
Exactly. I have a 2018 Hyundai Elantra 2.0 with 130,000 miles on it and have had NO ISSUES. I change my oil every 5000 miles and keep up with the maintenance. 40+ mpg's.
@@seanspring8991 same here with my 2020 Rio. Regular oil changes and it's my reliable vehicle. People still think Kia is the same "Kia" from 20 years ago but it certainly isn't. Affordable and reliable with a great warranty.
i had 2 kia optimas and they are junk i have always liked the car until owning 2 of them and finding out they are junk both of them burned oil the best part was they both got totalled shortly after having them because of a car accident i will never own another kia they are junk
I like this day-in-the-life of the shop video with your dad and Charlie. Be nice to see what Cody cooked up for dinner.

A day in the life of jay smart and his dog Charlie-fixing up cars 🚙 and the headaches that go with them! Good video, pal ! 😊😊😊😊😊
I'm glad the auction car was just needing an alternator Jay 🙂👍 Happy wrenching my friend 🔧🔩
Really enjoyed this. Let's have more of these vids!

2 thumbs up on the haircut and beard trim!
Looking fantastic!!
Awesome video
You had a day like I do over here in the shop
I think Charley is the reason why you surpassed 100,000 miles and climbing !
So much fun, in so little time.
Hay buddy good to see you hope every are doing great
My 15 Sonata with the 2.4 was crap, I’d have to add a quart of oil a week with no leaks just burning it with less than 90k on the clock

For the love of god get the Kia to the dealer for the free anti theft update ASAP before you sell it 😮
Great video!

Charley is growing fast!
You’re a good son Jay.
Like this type of vid! Nice progress!
A day in the life. Cool!
I’ve notice after owning a Kia, they do not have a dummy light for brake lights on the dash. It only illuminates for the parking brake
"That Cavalier was the best car I have ever owned." Heh heh.
Pow, right in the kisser lol family guy reference. 🤣
Family Guy reference? It makes me think of Jackie Gleason & The Honeymooners.
I’m willing to bet the F-150 coming in for a engine job is a 3v triton.
Thanks for letting us hang out with you-

Kia had a recall on them for fires 🔥

hell 207k miles doesnt sound like 'crap' to me! what makes the 1.6 GDI so bad aside from the brand name?

I have a 2021 kia forte and it's a POS lol .. I can't wait to get a truck and send that POS back ..
Why don't you let O'Reilly deliver those parts to you? Or do you just like getting out of the shop for a while lol
Great video dude. Hey would u be able to show off your cowboy boots again.😀😎
