A clear 4-2-4, not a 4-4-2 with high wide midfielders or that sort of thing, but an absolute, aggressive, devil-may-care 4-2-4. It's a bit too loose for my tastes, with huge spaces between the midfield 2 and the back and front four, but these are very interesting tactics nonetheless. Especially considering the match was against Inter fookin Milan...
I disagree I think it was a 3-3-4 while attacking with the full backs being diagonally to each other meaning the right back was higher than the left back usually the right back in the midfield line and the left back making it a back 3 staying in the defensive line but also joining the attacks however there were moments when they were 4-2-4 and even 2-4-4 (but that was pretty rare) and the front 4 having the wingers wide with the strikers also diagonally from each other making it look like a wide diamond and yes you can say that the lines between the defense and midfield and attack left a lot of space but it is due to create space between the lines to break the Inter lines to get the ball to the attack with long passes but there were situations when Inter were pressing the midfield dropped back into the space creating more passing options for the defense when under pressure
