I love how every time you say how to use tools on keyboard, forces me to learn it! Thank you! Ps you should definitely be a teacher, you are really great at it
This is great! An alternate method to create the water drop is to select the pen tool and while holding down the alt or command key, click on the anchor point at the top. You can then round off the corners using the rounded corners option.
I am learning the illustrator couple of months already and did not know, that I can make the same color stroke as the fill so easily :-) Usually I went to Pathfinder and struggled with the same color picking there. Thank you Spenser!
Thanks for sharing this course. I am totally a beginner, while following your course I felt lucky. Your instructions are really really helpful, haven’t seen any other competent to yours. Thank you loads for sharing for your knowledge. I am thinking to make designing full with the help of this course.
very nice and calm way to explain your steps! Like the way you mention the shortcuts all the way through, helps to remember them while working on my own projects
Great video mate. I don't comment on videos much, but thanks so much for this. The shortcuts talk through was great when trying to get into that habit.
U r the best tutor. I just wanna say u r amazing. It helped me a lot. Keep making videos and helping people 👍👍 Your interaction with audience/viewers is amazing. I m very glad that I watched this video. this one video gave me a whole lotta knowledge bout illustrator. I watched other videos of yours too. All of them helped me so so much 😊☺️ thank u for this tutorial.
Pretty cool. Though I'm not sure I followed why the shadow on the droplet is to the left, with the shine coming from the right, and then the background shadow also to the right where the shine is.
hey i use don't use cs6 but if you just hover with the pen tool (with option or alt held down) you'll see that symbol, it looks like a bent line with a point at each end. You just grab the straight line with that selected and you should be able to bend the line how u want. You can go back in with the direct selection tool (a) to fix it further
I notice a few differences in the way illustrator works, not sure if I need to adjust some settings or not. When I create a circle it automatically puts a fill in it. I do want it to have a fill, but not before I release the mouse (that way I can see the objects underneath). In the video it doesn't apply the fill until about 1:24 when he stops holding down the mouse. That's what I want mine to do, instead it starts out with a fill and not the transparent circle we see in the video. Anyone know the setting? (This is the 3rd Pixel and Bracket tutorial I try, I'm really liking them so far).
Another difference in my illustrator is that when I am using the pen tool to start giving it the water droplet shape, mine previews the changes "live" as I move the handles around. In the video, it will show what it will look like as an "outline/stroke" and doesn't update until he stops holding down the mouse at around 2:07. I'm just wondering why these differences, hopefully what I'm trying to explain makes sense.
whenever you're using a tool that creates a shape or path, Illustrator will use your current fill and stroke settings. at the bottom of your tools panel you'll see those settings (or in your properties panel). if you make the fill none by clicking the red slash, then you can create your shape without seeing it filled in. it might be helpful to have some kind of color on your stroke at least 1pt so that you can see it.
@@pixelandbracket Thank you for the reply! Yes, I will try clicking the red slash to remove the fill. I notice though that at minute 1:20 your color setting are blue for the fill and no stroke. While you are holding your shift down and the mouse down I see a blue circle with a pink plus in the middle. It isn't until minute 1:24 when you let go of the mouse that it applies the fill. That's what I wish mine would do. When I follow the same steps, it applies the fill and stroke right away I don't see the circle with the pink plus in the middle before I let go of shift and the mouse. I hope I clarified, it isn't the end of the world or anything, I'd just love to figure it out.
this is a really helpful tutorial. but i dont have illustrator i use Photoshop. I search for many tutorials on how to shade like you in Photoshop but i only see 3d shading and i want 2d shading like how you did it in this video. if you dont mind could you do a tutorial or send me a link ti a tutorial please?
Welp, I wish I had known that trick about holding the Option key while in the Pen tool to change the direction of the handles sooner. Thanks for the awesome tutorial.
Who doesn't have Properties menu like me, I found this transform thingie under opacity with two circles intersecting icon, in the left part of this panel, there was no flip so I clicjed on the three stripes button near it and found flipping there.
I watched your all video's please please its my humble request to you tell me how I can become professional Good Logo Designer I hope you will reply me #Thanks 🙏

Soooo many tips in one video! I’m so happy I watched it... that option for clipping mask was just fantastic. Never thought of that

Pretty sure it’s not available in cs6

helpfull.

If you’re AI is updated go to window > properties. Otherwise yes exactly where you found it! Also I think Object > transform > reflect
Thanks, Spencer. Subscribed. Bell Alert 'On'.
I can only get the pen tool to draw straight lines. I'm a little confused how you made the line rounded.
When you click, click and hold while dragging in the next direction, that will curve the line
thanks
