Eddie Lawson's input was key in developing the Cagiva, just as it was the Honda NSR500 in 1989.

It was such a privilege for the audience to have Barry commentate for so long in Australia, he was commentating MotoGP and F1 every Sunday night here for a good 10 years or so when he was in retirement. It's hard to imagine why Barry would get sick because he seemed a totally relaxed guy. I got the impression he had no stresses whatsoever. 52, that's way too young.

BeamRider100 Do you have ANY idea of the kind of lifestyle he had? Basically the James Hunt of bikers...

Personally and this is my opinion only…. The 1992 Honda NSR 500 which Mick Doohan rode is my favourite of all time, followed by The Cagiva. Too me back then, it was the Ducati of today.

Barry developed the back protector, organized riders and drivers to refuse to race at dangerous tracks, until they were improved. He's also the reason riders/drivers kept their own numbers.
He was a great loss, but left the world a better place, than when he entered it.
    R.I.P. Barry Sheene

That carbon fiber foot gaurd is more in the price range of $50 to make. Im a retired racer and composite engineer. We didn't wire our grips because of a tank slapper. Not sure why sheen said that? Its to keep moisture out from getting under the grip like when your in a rain race. If water gets under the grip they can come off fairly easy

Most hand grips now have grooves molded into them for safety wire. It common to do that with dirt bikes. I did it when I road raced because they would loosen up.
