I do like the watch, and I think it will grow on me over time even more. You're right though, hard to justify it at even discounted prices. However a lot of flippers sell theirs around the $400-500 mark which I think is more than acceptable

One of my favorite Seikos but I would not pay for a new one...maybe a second hand one at some point. Kudos for the production on these videos ...terrific job!

I felt like the music paired well with the watch. It's what I would imagine a 70's bond-type spy would wear on a RIB boat before diving into a secret cave 😎

I see them from time to time on the secondhand market which is where I recommend picking one up (most of them are safe-queens). Unfortunately they sell almost as quickly as they are listed
I've been having a seiko rethink recently and this one is on the 'possibles list' but totally agree it's a little spartan and the blind hype is baffling, hmmm so the willard or the shogun (in white)??
Ooh that's a tough one. I'm gonna have to go with the Willard. It's got all the great things about the Turtle with a little special sauce mixed in

I hear you on being “boring,” but sometimes that’s what embodies a great daily driver…adapts to everything. At least the specs and wear make you feel good for choosing that watch for the day!
Very true. Like I said, there is something beautiful in boring, and I think in this particular case the boring part doesn't appeal to me as much yet. I think given enough time this watch's charms will grow on me more. The Retro Razor bracelet definitely helps inpushing me in that direction.

I'm starting to understand now. NH movements are=to the 4Rs. This is a 6R movement. Is there an unbranded equivalent?
That's a good question; I don't know the answer. The only aftermarket Seiko movements I know of are the NHXX and NEXX movements

I just sold mine yesterday after 4 months of ownership. I thought it's a good looking watch but never bonded with it. It was simply too boring for me.
I understand exactly how you feel. It's a great watch but it doesn't have that x-factor for me. Maybe it'll grow on me, who knows. I still enjoy it for what it is.
