It's Jayden and it's not even close. Level of competition matters. One qb played an SEC schedule and the other played a mediocre ACC schedule. Drake Maye will be another Daniel Jones. These "draft experts" always salivate over these mediocre quarterbacks because they look a certain way. Put on tape of Jayden and Drake Maye and tell me who is the better choice.
they both will fail at the pro level. drake is another sam howell, too big a jump from acc competition like you said. and jayden is another robert griffin, all skin and bones and with a run run run and never slide attitude. injured reserve is his yearly destination.

Everyone is sleeping on drake maye just like josh Allen. Drake is a WAY better prospect then JD. It took JD 5 years to break out compared to drake maye at 2 year and he’s 3 years younger. But hey typical commanders move to reach on a player just like Forbes and look how that turned out.

Jayden Daniels numbers are SO much better than Drake's AND it happened against a tougher level of competition. They're better than Caleb Williams as well and it's not even close. Seriously, look at this:
Jayden Daniels - QBR 208.0 (highest in CFB history)
236 of 327 (72.2%) for 3,812 yards (11.7 ypa), 40 TD's and 4 INT's
135 rushes for 1,134 yards (8.4 ypc), 10 TD's.
Drake May - QBR 149.0

Jayden Daniels is 1b to Celeb Williams 1a. The other guy Maye probably won’t go till the 7 pick and that could be a reach. My comparisons are:

Lamar Jackson went to very good team in the draft. Look at Kyler Murray, he is already beat up People fancy running Qb too much.
Jayden Daniels will look very good in good team. LSU Tigers have excellent O lines and Wide receivers. And Washington has - terrible O line and receivers are not good.
What a typical take from a fantasy guy. Yates' reasoning is annoyingly common but utterly discredited over and over. Folks keep fawning over QBs with mad running ability. Yet, somehow defenses actually DO figure out how to stop these guys -- in the playoffs. You know, when it counts the most. How? Make those guys win from the pocket. So far, despite MVP regular seasons, Jackson has proven to be ordinary when defenses force him to play more from the pocket. The historical reality is that mobile QBs keep drives alive with their legs, but they win Super Bowls from the pocket. Prove me wrong! BTW, I think Daniels is better from the pocket than Maye is at this stage.
After a few hours of film on both. You gotta go Jayden. Footwork. Pure throwing. And the things he can do with his legs. It’s an easy decision

Both Maye and Daniels have massive arms and great mobility. But maye was playing in a weak conference, i prefer daniels imo. Although maye is more fine tuned and polished.

Most athletic QB since Lamar Jackson? Funny how the whole world already forgot about Anthony Richardson - a top 5 pick last year. He's at least 30 pounds thicker than Jayden Daniels and might be faster than him too. But nobody talks about him or cares anymore because he went down with a season ending injury after only paying like 3 games in the NFL.
Of course he only played 3 games. He’s a good player but you can’t expect the media to be talking about Anthony Richardson when he only played 3 games.
I find it hilarious that the "experts" predict Maye going to Washington with the #2 pick. Maye is a carbon copy of Sam Howell who is already there. Both went to UNC, trained together in the same offensive scheme, similar overall stats.
I've been more or less following Jayden Daniels' career since he graduated from high school in SoCal. I was initially hoping he would choose UCLA, and the Bruins were leading late in the process, but ASU hired Herm Edwards as HC in December, 2017, and a short time later Daniels committed to ASU.
The thing in which I'm most concerned about him is his weight. I remember his making incredible throws against my team, but I always remembered him throughout his ASU career as being perpetually listed at 185 or so. He seemed similar of size at LSU in his first year in 2022, and I remember him taking some incredible shots when he ran. In 2022, LSU listed him as 6-3/200 as a fourth-year, then in 2023, they listed him as 6-4/210. Some of this seems incredibly dubious to me. I think it's therefore important that when he performs at LSU's pro-day, that they get a good read on his height and weight. He should have at least have had them measure these things as Caleb Williams did at the combine, because people wanted to see how tall Williams is. The NFL guys, I'm sure, similarly, want to see how much Daniels weighs.
Incredible talent though, and all the best to him. But it's good that UCLA didn't get him because of the NCAA investigation of ASU based on familial involvement, which matters little to the NFL.
... but 2 szns ago everyone thought Zack Wilson was the next Mahomes or Rodgers :/

3rd season he threw less passes but had more ints than the 2 previous seasons when he had more attempts. Interesting stat. Not sold. That tells me he presses too much to try and make a play when it’s a pass. Tries to take advantage of his pass opportunities if you will. And it gets him into trouble.
Both suck but drake maye is way better. JJ McCarthy needs to be the first overall pick if he decides to go to the nfl this year because JJ McCarthy just helped Michigan win the national title and go 15 and 0 while drake maye and Jaden Daniels have never won the national title. Also JJ McCarthy is by far the best college football player in history.

What are people looking at? Pennix was the best QB in NCAA this year and his skills translate to NFL. The Texas game is all you need to see. He should be QB2 and honestly may have a better career then caleb. JD is a skinny less athletic Lamar. Other comps Fields, RGIII, Hurts... As a GM, I'd pass on him. 1 Skinny is red flag for running QB, 2 I don't think his speed will translate to NFL, 3 passing game is overrated
What are you looking at? Penix has an extensive injury history and looked terrible against an NFL scheme vs Michigan. He's accurate, but he also had the benefit of good protection and 3 NFL receivers. Maye and Daniels have more upside.
@@jca7343 you clearly aren't watching the tape. Pennix is the most accurate passer in college football. His receivers are good but the only reason they look elite is because he threw them open. You can argue that the other QBs are more athletic, bigger arms, better injury history which would translate to higher upside. But none of them have the accuracy of Pennix. He hits receivers on hands with anticipation on screens, 10 yard outs, and 40 yard tight man coverage bombs. He had a "bad" game against Michigan but he still got the ball out quick, made the right throw, avoided a ton of sacks. Caleb - best skilled prospect, Maye - best prototypical, JD - most undersized, best athlete, Pennix - old, injury prone, most accurate. Pennix is the most underrated...
Penix had an award-winning O line and had three NFL caliber receivers. He’s 24 and has an injury history and just recently hurt his ribs in the National Championship

I want daniels but running is not why. We have running backs for that. QB is about throwing

Daniels runs too upright and isn't slippery like Lamar. His 40 time is also going to be in the 4.5 range not in the 4.3s like Lamar. Daniels is slender and can't take the workload like Lamar. Maye is actually the more efficient runner, #2 in the NCAA in EPA as a running QB.
Jayden D is faster than Maye all day. Much more agile and not a N/S straight up runner like Maye. And Jayden D deep ball is very accurate. Jayden to the Commanders for me. Why compare him to Lamar ? We don't need him to be Lamar, we need him to be Jayden.
Jayden is plenty slippery. Very evasive for his size and he's def faster than a 4.5 guy. Maye will get brought down before he hits top gear in the nfl because hes not as evasive. RG3 was a 4.3 guy but it was straight line top speed, but he was not evasive at all. It the evasiveness that teams fear, Jayden has both
Maye is more elusive and athletic than given credit. Daniel's will either be a durable scrambler or a man made of glass. He doesnt come with the injury history of a pennix jr.

Fields IMO looked more pro ready in college from both size and arm talent. I HATE Fields but if you're thinking about Daniels, why not get Fields now for a 3rd rounder instead.
