I love that your videos are REAL LIFE! Nothing posed or staged. This is exactly how it would look in my own bathroom. Thanks for making videos that make wavy/curly care accessible.
LOL, ain't got time to be too fancy these days! I think I was 5 minutes late picking my kids up from school b/c trying to make this darn video. Glad you can appreciate the 'realness'...!
I would love to see what your hair looks like if you just let it air dry with no products! I have long + thick + sorta wavy hair and I have never used product.... always wondering if i'll ever get this outcome! You are gorgeous and I love listening to you speak!
This was great. I do better when I can see how things are done, talking it through is not enough. Thank you so much, am definitely checking out the MopTop products.
Gloria Gomez ...I agree. I have watched a lot of videos on this process but like hers the best. I’m just getting started and bought the products I was able to find at Sally’s. I’m excited.
I just discovered your channel and I love it! All the curly girl channels are like “don’t disturb the curls!” And I’m like “but I feel like my roots need a good fluff & shake!” So seeing you do that and your hair look gorgeous feels really validating. My waves are almost identical to yours so your channel has been a godsend! Thank you!
Can I tell you 👏🏻 you have revolutionized my routine. I’ve learned more from your videos than ANYTHING I have come across - thank you 🙏🏼 I didn’t have the opportunity to learn these things from my mother and I appreciate it!!
Great video. I agree with some comments below regarding the products. I feels that there are so many different brands that you use. It would be great to have a “bottom line” product review, what is your favorite set of products for wash day. Also, would love to see a travel video for your hair care as well as sprucing things up after a few days, without washing, especially after workouts. Thank you so much.
I used to watch curly hair videos until I realized they don’t work for me because I have wavy hair. Now I watch yours and they are life saving for me. Thank you a lot ♥️
I love your videos. As I've gotten older for some reason my hair is really wavy now and I love it. Thank you for showing me to scrunch my hair. It really makes a difference
Thank you for this video!! What I’d like to know is what happens on day 2, day 3, etc. This video helped me so much we reading or listening how to do it doesn’t cut it for me. I need to see it like you did it here. But now I need tutorial of the next day and so forth until the next wash. Lol I’ll check out your channel to see if there are more. Thank you again!!
Oh my gosh, your hair looks amazing! I have learned so much about caring for curly/wavy hair (which I have) by watching your videos! Thank-you so much for these tutorials!
I followed this as well as I could last night, in addition to the medusa pinning method for sleep, and my results are amazing!!! It's been raining the past few days, so I wonder if that hydrates my hair more than usual, but I love it. I also pineappled to work out today, and it worked out great. THANK YOU for this!!! Having wavy hair really is more complicated than one might think, so I really appreciate you sharing your journey and methods!!! :)
Love your videos. My hair is a lot like yours. I actually had completely straight hair all my life. I decided about a year ago to grow my hair out from a short cut and to my amazement my hair was curly. I always wanted curly hair. It's taken me months, a lot of products, and a lot of youtube videos to figure out my hair. Your videos are so helpful! I use so much less product now, skip the leave-in entirely, always use curl creme, always use gel, always plop, usually overnight. Tonight, just for an experiment, I did the usual routine, and then just let the shower rinse some of it out. My hair dried faster, with curls, and was very soft. Surprising! My hair journey continues...
You and I have exactly the same hair! i finally have found someone who provides a detailed account of what to do to make the curls look healthy and to thrive! Thank you
Your hair looks so amazing! It's interesting to see how much curlier it is now than your earlier videos. Probably through keeping it curly and as you've said moptop makes it more curly than anything else. Thanks for sharing this. Excited to try their curling custard.
Isn't that weird? I watched a bit of one of my old videos the other day, and man was I polite back then! LOL But yes, my hair is much curlier now. Surprises even me! And the MT custard is a big part of the reason! You haven't tried it yet? I'm not going to talk you into it. Your hair never likes the same things mine does!!
real life+curly girl I've got an order of the custard coming through from America. I do use As I Am like you and love it, but I'm a curly girl newbie so I'm still working out how to get my moisture protein balance correct and working out when my hair needs to be cleansed. You were much more polite in your earlier videos, but I do like the more real you.
Always learn something new when I watch your videos :). I realize I’ve haven’t been careful enough with diffusing, drying all of my hair at once by just stuffing it all in the diffuser and changing angles. No wonder only some of my sections get dry (often overly dry), and other parts are still damp when I finish! Going to practice your diffusing technique tomorrow :).
I'm probably an overly careful diffuser. Diffuser-er? Eh. I just know I've got one chance to get it right for the next 2-3 days, so I'm not screwing it up at the drying point! LOL! Glad to help you, friend!
I have wavy hair too! I did CG for about a year but I went to a deva salon that heavily pushed their products...I ended up not liking my hair and went back to straightening. Your hair looks exactly the same texture and “fine-ness” as mine! I feel like I want to copy your exact routine lol
New subscriber here. I’m so glad I found your videos because I have done so much damage to my hair but when it’s in its natural state it’s wavy. Your videos are convincing me to embrace the wave 😊💜
This is my second week discovering my swavy wavy curliness, and I am so grateful that not only does it look like your hair is close to mine in texture and density, but you're also a Texan so you have humidity and HEB, so your input is invaluable. I went super simple to start, so I'm only using Giovanni's Avocado and Olive Oil Shampoo (because I already had it on hand, thanks to trying to preserve hair colors), some ION Repair conditioner... which I probably shouldn't be using regularly, I know, but already had on hand, and LA Looks gel. I'm also not sure I like how curly hair looks on me, so I've been hesitating on making an investment, but you're really selling me on this MopTop stuff (and it's at my local HEB!). Your hair looks so soft and shiny. I've got the shiny part down, but definitely not soft. And no clue what to do with my bangs, so absolute bangs envy right now.
Oh, side-swept bangs are totally IN! Just pin them over to the side while drying and you're good! And yes, HEB and humidity. It's all here. Getting used to how you look with curly hair is definitely an adjustment. But I think you'll find, after a period of time with your curls, you won't recognize yourself without them. Give them a chance! :)
I just started the CG method and your videos have been so helpful! I have very similar hair to you, maybe just thicker, but these videos have made the switch from my normal routines so much easier! Your hair look great here btw
I have hair a lot like yours (fine and curly/wavy) and have struggled to find products and techniques that work. I LOVE your videos and have found them super helpful! Thank you :-)
Thank you so much for the informative video. Although I was cringing at the amount of water that was being wasted while doing all the squishing and scrunching!
Second time I did a better job, I did squeeze out the water with a microfiber towel before applying the gel based on the Curly Girl book. I used the Bed Head diffuser since I am too weak to manage the Orchid (maybe some day). My hair came out super curly. I did use a little bit of LA looks gel just to get everything into place.
Thank youuu so much for this in-depth routine. I have been struggling with my light waves/curls and fine hair. Especially root volume and curl cast. Your curls are lovely and you helped mine so much! xoxo
So helpful, I'm just about to start with the curly girl method and I'm kinda apprehensive, mainly cause I have very thick, long hair so I think the transition phase may be horrible, but you're videos have motivated me to stick it out
And thank you for your videos. You are one of the youtubers that inspired me to go CG and I love how you explain things. It really gave me the infor I needed to get started.
Wow I love your. Ideas. I just discovered the CG method and I am more of a wavy. Thank you so much for your great advice. Love watching! I have to catch up and watch all of them-You are keeping me up past my bedtime. LOL. I love your tutorials so much that you are the first channel I have subscribed to!
Awwww, well that makes me feel amazing! Glad to have you here, and feel free to spread out the video-watching. Ain't nobody need to see that much of my face in one day, self included. LOL
I use a little plastic bowl or cup to mix my shampoo with water and apply it instead of directly putting it on my hair, because if I don't, it leaves residue and flakes appear on my scalp.
This is what I need! I am about to start my CG journey, so I'm soaking up all the knowledge I can. I have about the same type of hair as you (hi po, hi density, 2b, fine) and live in Dallas (Plano) also. I will watch ALL your vids now to get the straight dope on us wavy gals. Thank you for the demo and the product recs. Can't wait to get started!
LOVE this routine, its sooo helpful!!! But i have to ask, what time of day do you prefer to do this routine at? The morning before work? if so, how long does this take you/how early do you have to get up before work? i as a wavy girl really struggle to give myself the time during my wash days, especially because I airdry as of now so it takes for.ever. from start to finish, so if you have any advice in terms of time management that would be amazing!!!
I almost never wash my body and hair at the same time, or even on the same day. You can do this routine at night, and then either leave the cast in and sleep with it completely dry, fanned above your head like in my sleeping in the crunch video, or scrunch out the crunch and then do the same thing. I never pineapple on wash nights. Also, you could wash your body the night before, and then just do your hair that morning. I do that A LOT.
I just started the curly girl method this weekend by watching a lot of your videos. My hair looks terrible. The outer layer of my hair looks very frizzy and it is small ribbons. The underneath looks good. My outer layer of hair looks dead. I don't know what to do except maybe wet it and try to refresh in the a.m. I have to go to work!
I got a conair dryer from your amazon shop that is much smaller and now I can use the orchid diffuser. Too bad they don't make the smaller Xtava dryer anymore
Okay, first day as a CG, the Mop Top products helped my hair get curlier, but my first time diffusing and I made a mess. The orchid is heavy for me in the back. Went back to the bed head diffuser, felt like I was less out of control. Definitely need some Diva clips. Thank God, for the LA looks gel, it saved me from my diffusing mess.
Some 2-3 day styling advice on the leave in conditioner/ French braid damp/go to bed wave setting routine. I also loose French braid dry hair before yoga and bed to keep the wave. It goes to frizz so fast, so what to do to set the dry wave in the morning would be appreciated..
Loving the custard! It works great under Innersense I Create Hold gel and is a great refresher when emulsified in my hands with water and smoothed and scrunched in :).
Those two are basically made for each other!!! I don't know what it is that makes it such a magic combo, but it really is. Thanks for the refreshing tip!
Great video! Thank you! I don't know how you have so much time for your hair though 😁 btw it would be really useful if you list all the products you use in the description of the video 😊
So so glad I just found your channel! Am about to watch all your videos. Our hair is very similar and I've been finally doing research into figuring out my waves and why I have them sometimes and why they just become shapeless volume other times
You’re so helpful. I have tried diffusing and haven’t got the hang of it yet. Your tutorial has shown me where I’ve gone wrong 🧐 Have you tried finger coiling? I have lots of straight hair in the back too and wondered if coiling would help.
Just discovered your channel! Thank you so much for this info - I've got lots to learn. Clearly, I've been using the DevaClips all wrong, and I never even thought about turning my hair dryer on and off during diffusing. Mind blown, lol!
Gorgeous!! I've just started the journey this week and my hair looks no where near as smooth as yours dry. I hope it will get better as the journey continues.
great info - thank you. Your routine when washing is similar to mine so good to know I'm doing it right! Only thing I don't use is shampoo, just conditioner, but might give the products you're using a try. I'm in UK do hopefully can get them here. Many thanks again for sharing your top tips with us curly girls. Have subscribed and looking forward to seeing more of your really helpful videos :)
Just curious on how often do you wash your hair? What are your go-to in between wash’s? For example a go to up-do, or a refresher spay to freshen up your waves? Love your hair!
You're beautiful! And your hair is absolute goals😍 my hair is very similar to yours so honestly this was really helpful, thanks a bunch! I just wish I had enough confidence to cut my hair short, I'm sure it'd be even curlier but well🤷🏻 maybe someday. Have a great one! ❤
I love your hair. I have so much frizz. I don’t have the patience for blow drying. I wonder if you can get the same or similar effect by air dying, at least in terms of limiting frizz.
Hard water tends to compete for the areas of you hair that you really need for your conditioners/moisturizers to bind to. It will depend on the ph of the water on how much, if any issues it will cause you. If you want to check to see if it is making a difference..... after you wash and before you condition, do an apple cider vinegar rinse. About a tablespoon of vinegar in 6-8 cups of water and work through your hair from root to tip. Rinse, then go on with conditioner and stylers. See if there is a difference.
Well, sort of. Hard water, regardless of whether you use product, can make hair 'act' differently because the minerals dissolved in the water 'bond' to your hair shaft, as Deborah said, blocking bonding sites where we'd all rather have conditioning ingredients attaching themselves to our hair! These minerals almost have the same effect on hair as large molecule proteins would. In essence, those with hard water typically need to use a little more product than those with soft water (which, for me personally, tends to make my hair very soft and slippery). So it's not so much that the products act differently in hard vs. soft water situations, but that our hair acts differently because of the water. Does that make sense?
I love your videos so much! You have really helped inspire me to embrace my naturally wavy/somewhat curly hair after years of wishing I had straight hair, so thank you so much for that. I'm currently trying to educate myself on what products I should be using to style my hair, but I'm having trouble finding styling products that define my waves/curls and reduce my hair's frizziness without weighing my hair down (my hair is fine, and low density). If you have any recommendations of products that provide definition and frizz control without being heavy, I would very much appreciate it! Also, I just subscribed to your channel, and I can't wait for more videos :)
Your video is the first one that is similar to me! My hair is very much the same texture and wave with some random curly ques. I just got the orchid and am trying to learn to diffuse for the first time in my life. My curly hair is new to me. It was curly when i was young and then straight after many years of hair down past my butt. I lost 90% of my hair due to medical stress/trauma and as it grew back in.... it came in curly 😂. Where do you get he MopTop products at the cheapest price? Thank you for your inspiration!!!
Wishing you the best of luck after all that!!! Best price...probably on Amazon. They're an authorized retailer. I have many of them in my shop, if that helps you - www.amazon.com/shop/reallifecurlygirl. But they do lots of sales via their website around holidays. Keep your eyes peeled!
The longer I follow cg (mostly) the more I think I may be your hair twin- especially with the cowlick! It just won’t stop coming back! 😕 But your hair is looking more amazing than ever these days! If all that volume and lack of crunch/definition is thanks to this routine and mop top, I think you might have your holy grail routine! I’ll definitely be trying the styling products!
The white and black orchid diffuser are for sale on the website and the black one is on Amazon, it is cheaper on Amazon. The peony dryer is coming soon.
Hi guys - FYI when I bought my black orchid I lucked out and found a blow dryer that it fits (I actually drug It to Target in my purse - ha). It's the Conair InfinitiPro. It's a compact style dryer and I really like it because the orchid is so honking, it's nice that the smaller dryer offsets it so the whole rig isn't so heavy and huge.
First of all thanks for the video tutorials, my question is,how if I don’t have a diffuser?how can I achieve that curls like yours when my hair get dry? I have the same type of hair like yours and wave also.can I use a blow dryer?so thankful to you coz I know this can save my hair from being damage
My problem is finding products that are fragrance free. I can get pretty sick from many products that have perfume in them. If you know of some good fragrance free products for wavy hair please let me know. I just started letting my hair dry by itself and it dries pretty wavy/curly. I have been straightening it for years, or just blow drying it straight. But in the hot summer with humidity it curls up nicely on it's own, but I need something to define and get rid of the frizz.
Hi there! I am new to the curly girl methods!! Not even sure what my hair type is.. All I can say is I’ve watched a few of your videos because your hair type seems similar to mine. In high school (I’m 40) I discovered that if I used mousse and hairspray with a diffuser my hair would get super wavy/curly and lots of volume! I would look totally different. However, it’s something I only experimented with. Now that I’ve had kids, my hair got really curly/wavy around my face with still being somewhat straight in the back :/ I’ve been trying to relearn how to embrace the wave and tame the frizz and wow how the rules have changed!!! I must say I’m a bit intimidated but up for the challenge!!! Any tips for this newbie would be greatly appreciated:))) Love your videos btw!!!
Hi! I'm just getting started on this and my hair is quite similar to yours in the amount of wave it has. I can't find the products you use here in Canada so I'm wondering if you could suggest anything that I could get at Sally's. I also have a friend who can get me anything I need at a store that sells only to professionals. Just trying to figure out what to use.
I love that your videos are REAL LIFE! Nothing posed or staged. This is exactly how it would look in my own bathroom. Thanks for making videos that make wavy/curly care accessible.

Wow, thank you so much! I actually just recorded a video recently with your request in mind. It's called Wavy 2 Ways. I hope you check it out!
This was great. I do better when I can see how things are done, talking it through is not enough. Thank you so much, am definitely checking out the MopTop products.
Happy to help! And I hope you love them.

Alyson, your positive energy picks me up every time, thank you for that! ☺️😘
Thank you, Sonja! I can't tell you how much that means to me!
Love routines!
Could you do a video on top 3 products? Like top 3 gels and describe them, top 3 curl enhancers and why, etc
Great idea!
Can I tell you 👏🏻 you have revolutionized my routine. I’ve learned more from your videos than ANYTHING I have come across - thank you 🙏🏼 I didn’t have the opportunity to learn these things from my mother and I appreciate it!!

Same here! I am so glad to have finalky figgured out i have wavy, not cymurly hair.
I saw many wavy routines, in english, spanish, but, this one become the more accurated to my hair patron. 👌🏻
I love your videos. As I've gotten older for some reason my hair is really wavy now and I love it. Thank you for showing me to scrunch my hair. It really makes a difference
Yes. Me too!!
Your hair is SO MUCH like mine. I’m in the middle of a binge of your videos. Love!
Thank you for this video!!
What I’d like to know is what happens on day 2, day 3, etc. This video helped me so much we reading or listening how to do it doesn’t cut it for me. I need to see it like you did it here.

These results are GORGEOUS!! Trying to decide between a Moptop lineup or Jessiecurl. . .
Bumble and bumble has a great curly hair line, have been using it 10 plus years.
These products look awesome! Thanks for sharing :)
This is the best curly hair video that I have seen. Thank you!
I just started the CG method and your videos have been so helpful! I have very similar hair to you, maybe just thicker, but these videos have made the switch from my normal routines so much easier! Your hair look great here btw

So helpful, I'm just about to start with the curly girl method and I'm kinda apprehensive, mainly cause I have very thick, long hair so I think the transition phase may be horrible, but you're videos have motivated me to stick it out
I needed this today. My hair had been such a mess lately. This was a great refresher! Thanks Alyson. 😘
Turn on the dryer AFTER scooping your hair onto diffuser?! Why didnt i think of that? **face/palm
Hey, every day is a practice! Be kind to yourself.
Dang, I love, love those waves on you. Those are my hair goals. Thanks for doing this routine with MopTop, can't wait to try this line.
I hope you love it. And thank you so much, friend!
I didn’t know that so much effort and work goes into waves/curls!!! What do you do when you travel for holidays/business?!
I wish my hair looked so smooth and shiny !
It will one day! Keep at it. And remember, you're your worst critic! It's likely a lot shiner than you can tell.
All your diligence and dedication has really paid off, looks fabulous! You da bomb!
Awwww Pam! Thanks!!!!!!!
And thank you for your videos. You are one of the youtubers that inspired me to go CG and I love how you explain things. It really gave me the infor I needed to get started.

Moptop is sooooo goooddddd!!!!! I never see it on curl girl accounts and I’m so happy u did!
Your vids are so helpful, also you remind me of my best friend's mom when we were like 6 :') so calming
LOL, that's funny!

Your hair is gorgeous! So glad I found a fellow curly girl with not super curly curly hair, it’s hard to find curls that look like mine online 💜
Thank you so much, Irene! I'm here for the wavies for sure, but hey if I can help out a super curly in some way, I'm excited to do so!
I got a conair dryer from your amazon shop that is much smaller and now I can use the orchid diffuser. Too bad they don't make the smaller Xtava dryer anymore
Girl I’m SSSOOOO glad I found you 🙌🏼💕🙌🏼
Okay, first day as a CG, the Mop Top products helped my hair get curlier, but my first time diffusing and I made a mess. The orchid is heavy for me in the back. Went back to the bed head diffuser, felt like I was less out of control. Definitely need some Diva clips. Thank God, for the LA looks gel, it saved me from my diffusing mess.
It takes practice! Just like using a straightening iron took practice. You'll get there. :)
So helpful! Love your videos! Fantastic tutorial/routine with one line product. Thank you
I’m living for the moptop custard too! It’s a game changer.
YES! You said it!!
I love your Waves! I think that is the texture of my hair. But i haven’t seen it in yeaaaars. I will try yo find those hair product and the diffuser!
This was such a wonderful comprehensive video! Thanks for sharing - I learned a lot.
Oh, I'm so glad to hear that! Thank you for taking the time to write me.
I just bought all of the Mop Top you used here. If my hair ends up half as nice as yours I'll consider it a success!
Keep notes, with pictures! I use the Evernote app. Best thing I did!
You’re so helpful. I have tried diffusing and haven’t got the hang of it yet. Your tutorial has shown me where I’ve gone wrong 🧐
Have you tried finger coiling? I have lots of straight hair in the back too and wondered if coiling would help.
I NEED Moptop to come to the UK! Your hair looks amazing. Another brilliant video. X
I believe it was available via Amazon UK recently - hopefully it will come back soon! And thank you:)
I just watched your video on the smasters method, and OMG! Your hair was SO DIFFERENT back then!! Your hair is SO DEFINED now! :O
I’m in love!!
It's a little crazy how much it has changed. Thank goodness for Lorraine Massey!
No doubt your curls are more defined with these products. I may have to revisit the MT custard, but I think I'll need to pair it with a gel.
Try it w/ Innersense I Create Hold. They're MAGICAL together.
Your hair = fabulous. I immediately ordered all this stuff so I can try it out. Thanks for the video, and thanks for the discount.
I love your videos! They are always so detailed and helpful.
Thank you!
Just discovered your channel! Thank you so much for this info - I've got lots to learn. Clearly, I've been using the DevaClips all wrong, and I never even thought about turning my hair dryer on and off during diffusing. Mind blown, lol!
Just here to blow your mind! LOL
Ohhh!!! Love how your hair came out!! I live in Austin!! Definentely have to try these products out!
Lucky girl, you can find them at HEB! Amazing stuff. Amazing store!
Oh! awesome! Thanks will check it out :D
Got my mop top off your recommend and started my curly girl journey today!!
Awwww, I am SO stinkin excited for you!
Thank you so much! Glad to have you here!
Just curious on how often do you wash your hair? What are your go-to in between wash’s? For example a go to up-do, or a refresher spay to freshen up your waves? Love your hair!
Usually every 3 days. I've got a refresh video coming soon!
You'll get a lot less frizz, and volume, by air drying. Just try clipping your roots for crown lift!
Thanks.
Ur hair looks amazing in this video! AMAZING! HAIR GOALS! 🤗
Thanks so much!!!
Great video. You mention hard water, makes me wonder if products work differently with the hair depending upon if water is soft or hard ?...hhhmmmmmm
Your hair is stunning! Thank you for great videos!
Thank you! And it's my pleasure!
I'm exhausted.
Then take a nap!
Thank you! Hope you love them. And YES, the cowlick is forever!
I love how large your curls look! My hair isn’t super curly but when I do diffuse it I get small wavy curls. What is the trick to larger curls?
We just have different curl patterns. Embrace how you were made!
So helpful! Your hair is goals :)
Thank you!
The white and black orchid diffuser are for sale on the website and the black one is on Amazon, it is cheaper on Amazon. The peony dryer is coming soon.
I've been stalking their website for when the Peony would come back in stock. They must have some serious supply chain issues.
You are so adorable and thank you sooo much for all the tips! Your hair looks absolutely great!!❤️❤️❤️
great tips..thank you..the water running in the tub while you were washing your hair though...
Your hair is so soft and pretty with your routine and products! Love it! My question is this - have you tried Deva Girl products yet?
I love your hair dryer, please could you tell me what's it call? X
First of all thanks for the video tutorials, my question is,how if I don’t have a diffuser?how can I achieve that curls like yours when my hair get dry? I have the same type of hair like yours and wave also.can I use a blow dryer?so thankful to you coz I know this can save my hair from being damage
Such an excellent video and very helpful, thankyou!
I love love love ur hair!!!! I’m totally going to have to try their stuff
Do you have any videos on refreshing your hair and taming frizz in between washes?
I have a 2B toddler at my house and I'm hoping your videos can help me just keep the tangles tamed.
YOUR HAIR LOOKS AMAZING
TY!
Your waves are gorgeous!
