Hilarious that when Klopp was leaving, “you don’t want to be the next manager, be the next one” and now Slot is doing better with the same players, “well, it’s Klopp’s squad, the players are making it happen”. Clearly Slot is rubbish and you have to be a bigger name to be given the full credits 😂

Arne Slot not first choice? How do you reckon you have the information Michael Bailey

Arne Slot was the only one interviewed for the job. The media were convinced it would be Alonso, but he had ruled himself out before Liverpool had drawn up their short list. As a Liverpool supporter my first choice was Hansi Flick, however I totally trust the judgement of the Liverpool recruitment team.

As i get older i seem to see things differently to virtually everyone else. Have liverpool not just gone out and found a manager who can buy into the project thats already underway? Maybe other teams who like to spend half a billion every time they change managers is not the way to go? We already know that recruitment is largely a seperate department at liverpool, it would make no sense to just grab a random manager and let that manager try to change everything about the way we play. Slot has arrived with fresh ideas and a very good plan to stop us leaking goals. Hes improved players everywhere on the pitch. I still dont think we'll win the league this year (i dare not dream) but im hopeful we stand a good chance in the champions league and domestic cups.

not enough depth to win the league, but can be remedied this winter

Usually, managerial changes come cause the project isn't working, but that wasn't the case with Klopp, so a degree of continuity of approach made sense. Liverpool have hit the ground running while both City and Arsenal have had wobbles at the same time. The squad is maybe a little thin - especially if they go deep in Europe but a title challenge is absolutely on the cards.

What makes the presenters say with such certainty that Slott wasn't the first choice? For fans? Maybe not, but those who run the club? Says who?

    • @nghtly5257

      they wanted alonso

    • @johnhoban4016

@nghtly5257 According to who? They spoke to a couple of people's representatives, feeling people out. One man was offered the job, the man who has it now. And don't get me wrong, he wouldn't have been *my* first or second choice. But I'm some knobhead and those who run the club offered the job to one (1) single individual

Villa being in a slump is absolutely true, but to say the season is going the way it was predicted seems a little far. Joint 4th on points in the prem, in the top 8 of the champions league, is still absolutely in line with where Villa were last season when people were predicting Newcastle level drop offs 🤷‍♂️

It's gonna be a tough game for us. Luckily, it is at Anfield.

talk on spurs still being based on the first 2 games for some reason...in which they dominated. Also reducing their tactical tweaks as minor subs is just factually incorrect. he moved kulu central, changed to two attacking eights then changed it again to just one with sarr, the full backs are inverting less and depending on opponent and oop rest defence is way better just to name a few. the underlying numbers are great yet we somehow havent changed much? like what

Tim what are you talking about? Mcginn has been injured and missed 8 games this season. Sorry but you do not seem qualified to talk about Villa at all. Watkins you are right about, he has been very slow so far this season so you get some credit back. Villa have just turned into a bad team overnight, they are still mostly the same squad that won 16 home wins in a row in 22-23. I think we will lose all the same but we are not just going to show up because the schedule says so.

Such lazy bollocks about Slot being 2nd or 3rd choice. You so called experts at the athletic are just using “oh alonso used to play for Liverpool, must be 1st choice” logic. Or are you getting your views from Gary Neville? DO SOME RESEARCH

Salah has one (1) title to his name. Surely he could have stepped up more when it counted.
Scoring against United or Arsenal doesn't make you a good player.

@@StephenC-d2m having 132 goal contributions in 132 games, being 8th on the all time PL scorers list and winning literally everything a player can win in the PL makes you an all time great what are you on about ofc he's a good player 😂

@@shekel2356 Mahrez is better in every aspect of the game and won the same amount of league titles as Salah done at LEICESTER. People wont remember Salah (just like Mane) because he didn't win enough trophies.
For me, Firmino had better skill, and Mane had a better engine. Salah fell out with Klopp and cost us so many finals.

@@StephenC-d2m he's won literally everything lad what are you on not enough trophies 😂 mahrez isn't anywhere NEAR Salah he's literally had 1 season where he's scored above 15 goals, Salah has been scoring above 18 PL goals EVERY season for 7 years you're living on another planet if you think hes above Salah, Mahrez can barely get in to double digits most seasons for Leicester and even City 😂 how many golden boots has Mahrez had? How many player of the season? He's won 8 major trophies with Liverpool, Mahrez won 11 with a super charged likely cheating city team 😂 Salah is the best African player the PL has ever seen his stats make that very very clear
