Vulpaphyla are based on the Kavat and Predasite are based on the Kubrow. They don't share anything in common except some generic code. You can occasionally see a kubrow/kavat for a split second when those pets load in as a default model
The Panzer Vulpaphyla makes viral spores you can spread that can proc the mod Synth Deconstruct (25% chance to drop a health orb when damaged by the companion) and with Synth Fiber you ALWAYS pick up your health orbs which means with this pet it's possible for more frames to consistently use Health Conversion/Equilibrium when normally they couldn't before without a Nekros/Nezha/Etc and I believe Link Armor works with Health Conversion to make the Panzer Vulpaphyla WAY tankier.

I think vulpapyla are supposed to be foxes, the scientific name of the canine branch from which foxes come is called Vulpes and they do kinda resemble them
From Comments made by Son, and the general biological frame of the new pets, Vulps would either be a giant fox or a coyote, while the Preds are a big cat like a lion or tiger. This would make the Vulps a Kuburo, while the Preds a Kavat architype even though the Kuburo is more the wolf like Canids and normal Kavats domesticated/small cat felines for their relations
If you are farming stuff or leveling up gear then a Smeeta Kavat will be a better option. However, when talking about high level content, vulpaphylas have completely taken over the market. Their ability to be virtually immortal, with the added benefit of always active fetch and primed animal instinct makes them by far superior in high level content, specially the Panzer Vulpaphyla variant, being able to spread viral prices, restore health, and give health orbs makes it pretty insane.
Try the panzer vulpaphyla, it applies 10 stacks of viral on a aoe and the area of effect is increased witb the mod Swipe, when its "killed" it will keep applying viral procs to enemies within its range
Vulpaphylas are Kavats, Predasites are Kubrows, you can determine this in game because the Vulpaphylas can use Kavat specific mods like Tek Assault and Tek Enhance
You know, my only complaint about the revivification system is that the tail of the pet and elemental resistances are determined by the Antigen with no way to decouple the two functions. Mutagen determining the first polarity and the head appearance isn't as bad, since Forma can be added or changed. Damage resistances, not so much. A minor complaint though, because none of the Antigen health types are bad, per-say and in the case of Vulpaphyla 'death' is an inconvenience. Predasites also focus on empowering you and disabling enemies, so they're harder to kill that way. The other bit that's confusing is that the common>uncommon>rare sequence for Predasites feel off somehow. Usually the rarer the critter is, the fancier it looks either in coloration or additions. Predasites go the opposite route. Vizier is common and arguably the flashiest, Pharaoh just has long ears, Medjay's the most mundane looking of the three. One more thing: There's a mod called Bite that massively boosts Crit Chance/Crit Damage, but is also extremely rare. Kubrow-type enemies drop it at a 0.01% chance, and Sabotage cache table C on Earth drops it at a whopping 3.76% chance, according to the Wiki. The reason I bring this up is because Maul doesn't work for Panzer, but Bite does.

Does having an infected pet effect gameplay?
When I first started using them Wolfs/Cats, during games I noticed this random thing floating about me like a Sentinel. I was like "wth is that" lol. Thinking it was some bug/glitch or enemy. Turns out it was my pet lol. It's diffidently the best Pet to have. They can't die! They can fall to the ground when you get knocked down. I think that happened once to me. So, it was in tiny mode, I got knocked down and so it ended up the same way. You can't support the tiny baby thing when you've been knocked down yourself I guess. But maybe it was an early days bug. It's only happened once.
actually i though vulpaphylas were wolfs and predasites lions that are canines and felines respectively, being the opposite of what they are in game
I managed to find the Viziers and one Medjay but never got a pharaoh or a single vulp
Where do panzer vulps spawn?
