BIG City Mackerel! How is the fishing so good here?!

- Ahoy Legends, this week I head out chasing metropolitan Mackerel with my good mate Brownie and end up hooking my Nemesis fish!!
What starts as a humble little morning trip quickly turns into a hot session as the mackerel start biting thick and fast then in the midst of it all, that's when I hook it!! Hope you enjoy the video!!

Nice work there Sammy! Those look just like Spanish Mackerel here in the US but are the size of what we call King Mackerel. The Spanish usually dont get over 5-6 lbs but the Kings can be 40-50 lbs. Both are great to catch and eat just like your “spotties”😎. Tight lines brotha!🎣
What we call Spanish mackerel you call king mackerel. They get the same size here.

Follower for years mate and love the provision of knowledge you provide. Recently viewed the channel again..what type of video and audio gear do you use? Battery life with the amount of footage? Not sure if this has been covered but have loved ya channel (no pun intended) since gettin my first boat in 2017. 2016 done the Flattie Classic and remembered pretty much the Whyte bros, Wilson, Venom, Mad Heuys and local boys up there. Love ya work bro from NZ fishing uncharted territory to knowledge I hold close to my chest 👌

I was one of the kayakers out there, I'm usually trolling deadbaits, but this year I just started spinning for spotties too, great fun! Bit of an extra challenge after I'm on I have no control of the kayak and it gets exciting amongst the anchored boats 😅

@kirkwoolston6932 there was a few tense moments when the fish was running too close to boats, but I was only trying amongst the boats on low wind days. Any wind would make it very difficult to control. Luckily I didn't hook a cobia, that would be sketchy with its towing power.

Definitely a popular fishery! You and plenty of friends out for a fish! Not quite as crazy as bouy 10 fishing for coho salmon or Drano lake for Spring Chinook...but definitely a lot of folks out there.
If you want to see some proper combat fishing, Google either of those things. Drano it feels like you could walk across all the boats, and you probably could with some effort.

Sammy what would you say is the most effective overall way to catch mackerel
With a fishing pole. Preferably with string.

Go to the fish monger and catch it as he tosses it to you and hand over your money that is how you catch fish and are guaranteed to eat it 😂😂😂 and that's from a guy who loves fishing 😂😂😂
Flour then egg wash next step breadcrumbs. Couple a time into nice hot peanut oil. Add salt and fresh lemon or lime and PIG OUT 😅
Cobia that size here will get you screwed if game warden finds that Lil guy
