Such a timeless bit of kit, producers will still be using these a hundred years from now. The MPC 2000XL is my absolute favourite out of all the MPC'S. Nearly sold mine years back, but luckily had a change of heart and kept it, still have it to this day. Take my word for it, the sound quality of this thing is supreme, from clean to crunchy, it's all there! I've made pin drop samples sound like full on 808 kicks by re pitching, adding gain and a splash of reverb, and useing the MFC42 8 pole filter to dig for that sub frequency in the sound. Most importantly the workflow of the sampler keeps you engaged while you're using it. Buy new by all means, but DONT sell your classic stuff for it. You'll regret it. This is one of the better videos showing it in use, and proving that simplicity is king.
It's always fun going through old beats, I was just digging tonight on old mpc2500 tracks and remade one on the sp1200, amazing what that thing can bring out in a sample. Can you do a tutorial on the s950, shit is ass backwards from what I'm used to. I just bought 2 from a pawn shop, manuals on em are tough.
