I thought I was cheating when I made mine, but I make then just the same way you do!!! The one thing I will which is much better is to carve the central piece, like the chikcadee, on the table. I had been laying it directly on a panel of raw claw and the working on it. Too much room for error this way. And way to hard to paint without making a mess on the base clay.
Ive had that triangular tool for 10- 15 years, so I'm not even sure where I got it. I did find a similar one in a set sold at Princess Auto, here in Canada. The other metal tool that I really like is a Christie Freisen tool
I never would have thought of using that tool for this project! It's amazing so far, can't wait to see part 2!
Thanks Jane
Thankyou so much for sharing your techniques.Such fine detailing! Xx
Thank you!
I love this technique ! I paint a lot of birds and I also work with polymer clay, this is an awesome way to combine the two.
Thank you Megan, I love the combination too!
Loved this, thank you for sharing! I'm trying to tidy up my art space, because this is something I want to try.😊

What are the two tools that you are using and where did you get? I'm in Canada too. The first one seems extremely versatile

This is awesome! What's the thickness you start out with? I'm afraid of cutting right thru, lol. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Thanks Susan, I'm using a #1 thickness on my Atlas, it's the thickest setting
