One of my earliest news-related memories is of watching Hurricane Katrina plow into New Orleans on The Weather Channel when I was 8 years old. I watched the whole thing with my family from California despite knowing nobody from the affected region. The hurricane was just that monumental.
I was 34 back then. Dealing with a recession . Couldn't find work in seattle at the time. So got a job in west texas . People I worked with survived katrina. Now I'm surviving this covid hell

I remember my mom beforehand saying "Louisiana is gonna get hit very bad, pray for their safety". I remember people on the bridge on the news dying of dehydration and pres. Bush flying out there. Such a sad time.
This song gives me chills when I hear it. All I can think about are all the people who are in danger or even dying as I listen to the music and watch my local forecast. But I guess that's the whole point of it.
