The some scholar say ustaad is actually higher status then a shaikh… this question was asked to Shaikh Hassan as Somali and he said that shaikh ul Islam ibn Taymiyyah said anyone who teaches you about your religion is your shaikh; so they are our shaikhs because they have been teaching us our religion upon clarity of Quran and sunnah for decades. May Allah bless them immensely and increase them.
