  • Randy Mobley: I run Southern Exchange Charters, it’s a guide service and when you stand on your feet eight to 10 hours a day, it takes a toll on your back. It’s been about a year and a half ago, I had a sciatica nerve problem. It’s almost an excruciating pain that you can’t stand. I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t walk. I couldn’t do anything. Dr. Small: I think a reasonable goal in patients who have spinal conditions is to get them back functioning at the level that they want to function. He had actually nerves being pinched in his spine, at the L5 nerve root which comes out right here was getting pinched again, as it’s coming out of the spine. In this case, we used a new procedure on him called the iO-Flex. You can do that minimally invasive (01:00) through a small incision. Once you know that you’re safely away from the nerve, you can actually pass an instrument through that actually will cut the bone and/or the soft tissue away from the nerve. I think it has been very successful in the cases that we’ve done. Dr. Small: When he came in to see me in the recovery, I told him right then, I said, “The pain’s gone.” He fixed it and two weeks later, I was up and going like nothing had ever happened. Dr. Small: What I really like about spine surgery is seeing people improve. Randy Mobley: I went from being in a wheelchair back to standing up, doing what I wanted to do. That’s a big step. It’s been a plus for me, I can tell you that.

My pain started 2 years ago as what seemed like a mild inconvenience at first which I thought would go away on it's own eventually. 2 Months ago, I woke up and I can't do anything. Can't stand for 5 minutes without excruciating pain; I'm working from home but even just sitting becomes excruciating as well so I have had to take lots of sick days, I can't stand up straight at all; my sleep is completely messed up. I am 30 years old and I've always been active and fairly athletic and never thought this would happen to me. Didn't sleep last night, getting my first MRI ever in 5 hours. Wish me luck.

My appointment with my neurosurgeon is coming up early next month. My primary care physician says that my L5 S1 disc has shifted onto my nerve. I do not know if I need surgery or not yet. The neurosurgeon will be able to tell me. @@rangeraficionado87

Update: I have a ruptured/herniated disc in my L5 S1 part of spine according to my MRI and I have had to move locations since then. Luckily I had a ton of help.
I have not had surgery yet due to the transer of insurance from one county to another and I am still unable to stand up straight and I wake up every day in pain. It is somewhat managable but my life is still changed to a very sedentary style. I need to get a new PCP and new neurosurgeon because of the move.
Hopefully I will have another update for you all soon. Thank you!

Annastasia Root are you or have you undergone surgery.. I’m considering surgery but honestly I’m scared. To the point that I’m considering living with this pain... but then again I truly want relief..

I`ve looked for a back pain treatment program for few months and this back pain guidebook, 4SciaticaPainCure.blogspot.com
fits me flawlessly. Since it helped my back pain, I`ve got no problem sleeping any longer. I love this guide. It`s firm and exactly what I was hunting for..?

It is excruciating and no matter how you try to find some relief you just can't. Pills, ice packs, bio freeze, elevating legs, massage, exercise, certain foods, etc. Imagine doing all the above to only be in tears. I just want the nerve cauterized or bone ripped out idc it hurts that much.

Hey guys do research about DSCB(distal sodium channel blockers) injection which is proving to be a game changer according to few Indian orthopedics.
I haven't got the injection But the UA-cam videos are tempting.
