      Kind of disappointed in this one. Aside from the CSA pick up it’s all either things they’ve discussed at length or just painfully obvious

    Keeping the essentials (rent/phone/utilities) and anything else in separate accounts is so simple but was HUGE for me. Also, using tips for a night out or frivolous purchase (for example, a pair of shoes I’d been eyeing) is a habit I LOVE. It isn’t really money you expect to have so when you use tip money, in a way, it doesn’t come out of your income 🤑🤑🤑

    I really like the concept of budgeting your night out from tips (Tip #5). It sets a spending standard and it can become a fun game of "what shall I/we do tonight? Oooh let's see based on what I can spend..."

    I still can’t believe the amount of people who literally throw money in the bin. I was dumbfounded when I found this out. Like it’s just as easy to give it to someone or buy a packet of gum or something with it especially now with self service tills at shops where you can just chuck it all in.

    There are no high yield savings accounts!! When I first opened an ISA in 2006, 6%, 7%, even 8% accounts were available. Now the savings rates are less than 1%. It's pathetic.

    As a career food & bev/hospitality professional, my coworkers and I do a lot of those same things. We were lucky in that once you made full time, you had some pretty killer benefits. But those who worked part time, or full time in a non-tipped position, pockets were always tight and we always were looking for ways to either pick extra shifts up and find free things to do so we could save whatever we had.

    Somehow this world has its very intricate way to take your money away. Even if you save on pennies, you are going to throw away that celery or cabbage that went bad, spoilt milk or misfitted dress, tear your shoes or simply drop a 20 IF you (on some deep level) are against having money. Talk about the psychology of money loss (on the why), not the how

      Both are important and much of it is on us, especially with food waste, bargain shopping or doing things because we use emotions instead of logic. We have to be savvy to have money even when we have higher salaries but more so when less. So thankful YT to help people at least try.

    I didn't know it was normal to get tips working at a cafe! I used to work at a Starbucks outlet location and I never got tips! I did get a lot of free lattes though, so that was a perk I guess :P Luckily I have a job that pays a bit more and has benefits now, and best of all isn't in customer service so I'm not getting yelled at everyday by entitled Karens who complain about the cost of everything when the price IS CLEARLY LISTED ON THE MENU YOU JUST ORDERED OFF OF.

    This is literally all I do but I'm not a barista XD I'm a freelance language service provider, so yeah...each month goes the way it does depending on my efforts and if I take time off, that's money out of my pockets...so whenever I get mypay I put away 40% for taxes, pay my rent and utilities and then put 200€ away " just cause" in a savings account. I then just use what's left - which is not much...but I'm never out of and it forces me to be mindful about how I spend the rest. And if I wanna treat myself for a special occasion, I can.

      Most employers will split your direct deposit. So you can make them do it then you don’t have to worry about it. So, in her example the $450 each check the employer DD into her payment checking and the remainder into her spending checking.

      @mljs9245 2 роки тому +2

      @@jeremyhelquist I did that for years. There is something about out of sight out of mind that work. I had a savings acct that was for savings & big expenses (insurance, property tx etc.); a checking acct for household expenses (utilities etc.) and a second checking acct for groceries and ‘flexible’ spending. The second acct was used like cash envelopes. I just made sure I kept tabs on the checking accts do no overdrafts.

    • @loullabelleuk
      @loullabelleuk 2 роки тому +14

      Irrelevant aside from bringing awareness to another person's way of life? Being from the UK I find it mind-blowing just how many people don't have access to free state-funded health care and could be a single medical emergency away from financial ruin.

    • @alepolait8951
      @alepolait8951 2 роки тому +8

      You can take value from everything if you have the right attitude. I'm not in the service industry or in the US either (3rd world country here), but i usually do the rounding up thing myself to either pay more towards my debt or to put away a little more money. The CSA thing does not apply to my country at all, but we do have stuff like food banks and i always forget to check them out, the last time i went i found a lot of stuff from Costco (dog food, bags of produce, cheese) for free or for just a fraction of the price., this video reminded me to go. Retirement advice is the most basic advice you can get, and it applies to pretty much everyone, everywhere. Sure, in my country the name of the thing is not Roth IRA, but we have somewhat equivalent and banks and insurance companies offer other products that can help you to plan for your retirement.

    • @IraSpain
      @IraSpain 2 роки тому +2

      @@alepolait8951 I am just pointing it out. It is specific or very basic advice that will not benefit most people - has nothing to do with attitude. Retirement planning or paying your bills is not a new thing. Not losing your money (coins) is something more applicable to children.

    • @IraSpain
      @IraSpain 2 роки тому +5

      @@alepolait8951 Many ppl also get a (decent) minimum wage once a month and can apply for a multitude of social programmes in delveloped countries. But accummulating too many savings would opt you out. The US system is just antisocial and pro-rich. It does not matter how many pennies you bring to the bank if your medical bills set you back thousands.

    • @bleuside
      @bleuside 2 роки тому +5

    "And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.
    The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.
    Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone NOT FOUND written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire." (REVELATION 20:12-15 NKJV)
    Today, while you are still alive and able, may you repent from your sins, believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that JESUS CHRIST is your Lord and Savior, so that through Him, your name will be written in the Book of Life.
    "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever BELIEVES in Him
    should not perish but have everlasting life.
    For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." (JOHN 3:16-17 NKJV)
    By God's GRACE, the gift of Salvation and Eternal Life is available to all. You can RECEIVE it. You can REJECT it. May you choose wisely.
