On a more personal level, every time I read the book again to prepare for the exams, I get goosebumps and walk down memory lane reviewing my own friendship stories at the same age... There was a Jewish Dutch boy I got really close to as a teen. His name was Tjerk-Jan. We were close for many years, but growing up and living in different countries, we eventually lost contact. I still miss him now nearly 40 years later ...
