I just noticed something. The man at the lemonade stand just kept getting increasingly more irritated every time the duck came by. He was his own independent business and didn't have to worry about complaints.
The woman at the corner store, on the othet hand, despite her visual displeasure at her first meeting with the duck, tried her best to at least appear happy and cheerful, because she likely had higher-ups who could fire her if she made a scene. While the man kept offering his lemonade, the woman had to settle for asking him to leave if he wasn't going to buy anything and keep harassing the employees.
