Those 3200 litre bins look massive. I have hidden inside 1100 litre bin, 360 litre bin and 240 litre bin, and I cannot fit completely inside a 140 litre bin. Great that you got to see the packing mechanism. Nice to see it is a ram, not an auger, so if I get picked up, I don't get sliced too badly ! LOL ! (I know where I belong.)
I am 5' 9" and 18 stone ! 240 litre bin need to stand inside, then raise yourself up on your arms until you can bend your feet back behind you. Then lower yourself knees first. That way you fit. Getting out is hard. Rocking the bin till it falls over. 360 litre bin you can sit on the ridge inside that goes over the wheels. Squashed your toes due to lack of room. Unable to last more than 6 hours. 1100 litre bin is easy. If sitting flat on the floor, I get severe leg cramps after 6 hours. Best to sit on a bag to elevate your behind. Record so far 9.5 hours and no cramps. Hope that helps.
I have discovered that if you have a penchant for trucks and machinery, and watched the garbage truck with passion as a kid... it never goes away as you age. ;-)

Very cool Bill. The in cab shots really made this vid, what a cool driver to hook you up like that. So it looks like the lift cycle is pretty much automated. How much control input did the driver need to use to actually hook up a container? Like at 6:18 where it takes a couple tries to connect the container side pins to the lift, how much of that it from the driver's input vs computer controlled? Also is that the top of a manual trans shifter to the right of the joystick?
I do not believe it was a manual transmission. The sound of the truck starting and stopping did not strike me as a manual w/ a manual clutch. I thought the grippers were manually controlled, but I later started thinking that it was computer controlled. I suspect the closing of it is manually controlled, and the opening/retracting is computer controlled.
Great video Bill! This here is an interesting truck! But I like it a lot! The sound of the engine is unusual! Plus that loud whine at takeoff, like at 3:23 - sounds pretty cool in my opinion! Do you know what engine is in this truck? What year is it? Do you think it has an Allison automatic or another type of automatic transmission?
+GarbageSean I actually do not know what motor/trans it has. Nobody around here spoke English, and I could barely even explain what I was doing there in the first place let alone a conversation about engines and transmissions. ;-)
