  • In this episode of In Depth Angling we target smallmouth bass on the Big Piney River , located in Missouri. I catch the first smallmouth bass of the Missouri smallmouth slam in this video using a hand tied hair jig in a deep river pool. This video is the first of a 12 part series to complete the smallmouth slam, fishing the smallmouth special management areas across the show me state.

I plan to do the Blue Ribbon Trout Slam this year. This will be my first time attempting it, but I see it as being fun & challenging, plus I'll get to travel all over the state.

Those types of challenges take you places you normally wouldn't go and learn how to fish different water. I have the Little Piney River knocked out on the blue ribbon trout slam but I haven't gone to any of the others as of yet

@@indepthangling Good luck with the rest of them. If I get to them, I'll try to update you as well.

Pretty cool video. I've often thought of fishing that stretch of river and never put in there. I fish mostly the lakes now but I will still have to go give this a try.

Yea I found out a little more about the Big Piney after this trip. They apparently have high populations of rock bass as well

@@doncrawford9292 Did you camp on a sandbar or in a campground? I was thinking about camping overnight on the river but I don't know what's allowed as far as that goes
