REPORT: Donovan Mitchell doesn't want the Cleveland Cavaliers to trade Jarrett Allen

- Mark Stein is reporting that the Cleveland Cavaliers maybe hesitant to move on from center Jarrett Allen because of his relationship with Donovan Mitchell.
"One reason I’ve heard for the Cavaliers’ reported reluctance to trade Jarrett Allen despite ongoing questions about Allen’s fit in the same frontcourt alongside the emerging Evan Mobley: Donovan Mitchell is often described as an Allen fan who doesn’t want to lose him as a teammate.
The Cavaliers, of course, will soon have the ability to formally open negotiations on a contract extension with Mitchell on the day after the NBA Finals. Mitchell is eligible for a four-year extension worth nearly $210 million and securing his signature on a long-term deal is Cleveland’s No. 1 off-season priority."

I think whoever the Cavs hire as their new head coach will need to first maximize the potential of this Cavs core group before thinking about trading any of them. The previous head coach was a dumbass and did not understand how to get the most out of this Cavs core group of players. I believe the new head coach will play a major role in seeing if this core group can win more and accomplish more together

Just give Mobley the extension and if he doesnt play like a 50m player send him to OKC for 6 picks , a starter, and a great role player. This way you have 50m to match a contract and not 12 or whatever he makes now.
Then you can release Imob, thus opening a 2way up for a dynamic player that needs time to develop. Now the team has more picks and players to move around if need be.

Klutch/Rich Paul (DG agent)says he will seek trade if Mitchell resigns. I don’t know if that’s reality (I hope so: not a Garland fan) but it may be out of Koby’s hands. They have to trade DG or JA to get a legit 3. They don’t grow on trees and there is few difference makers.

I'm still upset we traded Markenan. We gave up too too much for a 6-3 scorer. Mitchell never took Utah anywhere. We gave up our lottery pick that year, two #1's, Markenan, Sexton, and 2 second rounders. I would have love to see them keep that team together. And I would have told Sexton he's the 6th man or we will work out a trade if he didn't accept 6th man. I would have loved to see that team after 2 or 3 yrs together. That front line was young and one of the best front lines in the league. Didn't like the Mitchell trade. Still don't. Ist round exits back to back years. Same as Utah.

Guys - I know you think you KNOW who are friends with whom on that team, but right now Darius and Dono are on vacation together (along with E. Mobley and Lamar Stevens) in Italy. They are friends. Also - Donovan is not going to micro manage who stays and who goes. That is NOT who he is and he doesn't want to be. He wasn't the only player who expressed disappointment in JB, so that is not all on him as you and many other people have inferred. It was nearly the whole locker room.

In 1988, the Bulls traded Oakley to the New York Knicks for Bill Cartwright. Oakley was Jordan's friend and he didn't like that but it helped the Bulls a build a championship contender. Cavs have to do what's best for the team not for Mitchell.
They also happened to draft Scottie Pippen in 87. I think that probably had a bigger impact than Oakley for Cartwright

Allen is a top 5 Center in the league. Mobley is a PF who can't stretch the floor yet. With his frame he is not a Center. If they start the season with them I don't mind it, but if you don't see Mobley more willing to shoot from the outside then what's the point of continuing. If you don't see those improvements I trade Mobley at the All Star break and go get a legit stretch PF. I think we underrate Allen tremendously.
