A friend recently randomly came across this and sent it to me. Robert Paul was my dad and I have fond memories of visiting him at the fire house and being treated to the candy cupboard and a seat in the firetruck. We miss him very much but love seeing things like this and keeping his memory alive. Thank you for sharing!
You guys were having too much fun. I miss working in houses like that where everyone laughed all day n night. Things have become way to serious now and managment thinks a crew like this needs a hardnosed officer or busted up. Love the 3rd n 4th hand me down firehouse furniture. Some things never change.
All the guys were veterans of busy houses. Great crew. We had fun but played by the rules of the day. Why fix something that works? The truck was "also a Jaws" truck. Best time of my life but shit still haunts me.
"Old"? Milwaukee in the 90's doesn't seem that old to me. I will say, Milwaukee in the late 80's and 90's was probably the most violent time in it's history. Also probably the busiest for working fires. It was not uncommon for one firehouse to have multiple house fires in one night. Multiple shootings and CPR as well.
