for those saying armor/helmet level doesn't matter because point x second differences and limb bullets, remember, high level players know how to jiggle peek, jump and prone while shooting at you at the same time. shooting 1/2 bullets to just break your armor, exhausting your medkit and surgical are also strats to make it easier to push or nade you.
This isn't the year 2000, pretty much anyone who regularly plays shooters can jiggle peak or move and shoot at the same time. Of all the times I've died, 90% has been a simple spray down or headshots. Of all the times I've killed, it's been either a spraydown or a headshot. What you are saying makes sense in a game like Apex Legends or PUBG, but not here. The TTK in those games is about 3x longer on average. When the TTK is this low, and you have automatic weapons 600rpm and above, there simply is no need to wear an opponent down. Just holding the trigger will kill them before they can react. It's just a fact of human nature the average reaction time is 200-300ms. If you want to get REALLY pedantic, sure armor matters... in the 2% niche situations where you both start firing at the exact same time and hit the same locations of the body. Then your purple armor will save you where a blue wouldn't. Woop-de-doo.
I hadn't quite understood what penetration does, but its good to know thanks. looks like a high pen gun can easily make up for lower tier ammo if you're cracking the armor that fast with it. I was surprised to see how quick you could destroy yellow armor with blue rounds with that vss
I’ve been loving the game with only some concerns of how they’re going to handle micro transactions moving forward. TTK is extremely quick assuming you’re using and going against blue/purple ammo and armor. I like the game is more relaxed than tarkov but the quick TTK makes it so positioning, sound and awareness all still are the biggest factors. Great game with great potential, let’s hope the devs don’t get greedy.
I do hope they tweak the armor durability a bit. It breaks almost instantly, and as much as I understand realism in that regard, I feel like my purple armor vs green ammo shouldn’t really break in 3-4 shots.
@ big disagree. Purple ammo is over double the price of blue and purple armor is hardly even close to double the price of blue armor. You can go into normal zero dam and come out with countless purple vests from ai, and on the auction you can buy a decent vest for 80k if you know what you’re doing. But paying like 200k for 200 bullets is a bit much for a lot of players. Now, this comment was a few days ago when I didn’t have as much knowledge. Blue ammo is hands down the best middle ground I’ve discovered, as well as purple armor being the best protection on a budget. The philosophy here is to promote actual strategy rather than run and gun swing or be swung gunfights. So the armor will save you from your mistakes, your slips, etc. playing angles and popping shots into your enemies from odd spots and quick peeks is far more effective than speeding around the corner that the entire enemy team is hiding behind. I was just misinformed, and despite some tweaking still being necessary, I don’t think it should make you that much tankier.

Though still, I feel with Tarkov and even ABI I kinda feel it’s easier to still have a moment to react. I don't agree that it shouldn't knock people, but I do think they could do with reducing the damage done to limbs a little further. I suppose it does at least add a little uncertainty that even when players smash crazy money on gold armour and bullets they could still get humbled by a few lucky legs shots from someone with a cheap kit.
Yeah maybe not. Just throwing stuff out there. I’ve heard that on the Chinese version or whatever people will exfil camp by laying prone with a pistol. They just wait for you to get a bunch of gear, shoot your ankles a few times and take all your loot.
