I just spent a three week visit here with a friend. While I totally respect the ideology behind this, to be perfectly honest we didn't have a very nice time though we came into it with an open mind and had every intention to live there. Visitors I felt were treated a bit like a 'necessary evil' and our visitor period felt akin to a freshman hazing which was sad for us as it was something we looked forward to for over a year- although we absolutely loved all of of the lovely and wonderful people there who made us feel welcome. I felt the videos, though interesting, were perhaps a bit misleading in some regards leading the experience to fall short of my expectations. I hate to be negative, just wanted to share that experience as I feel people should be informed about what they are getting into as I wish we had.

oh where to begin haha! i could name a lot of things. i guess the main one would be that seeing a community of so many people who exist on the same level and require only each other to survive, not some boss or check, is inspiring and hopeful, especially with how long they've been around. not everyone there gets along completely and there are issues just like every community in the world has, but it's based on a common and beautiful vision, and the lifestyle is wonderful. it's so full of life!

i would love to move there if it weren't for the fact that my friend's and i intend to make video games, and we need space for computers and servers and such.

I have 125 acres in the hills of Santa Barbara California surrounded by BLM land....Would anybody be willing to help create a safe place to live, grow food, shelter, I have much knowledge but can't do it alone....Any suggestions from people out there? Any body in LA or San Fransisco with no where to go if the SHTF? We could even go underground.

Ooowheee, lemme pack my things! Surrounded by blm land? Sounds perfect. Not that I'd worry about them coming to make trouble (you'd have to be out there to work in order to be making trouble)

What if you get sick or have a medical condition- will you be thrown out? why 42 hours per week? why not 37 like Europe work week? What about gender differences? what about dietary differences? do people drink alcohol there? What happens when people get old & can't work- do they get kicked out? I think to expect everyone to do this is impossible and would be extreme for many. We all have different needs. This is the problem with communism.

That's life....we should be a community with our own families and take care of each other and grow old together....old school

@MantraD313 What was the work like? Was it physically challenging? Was it varied, or a lot of the same stuff?

The Society is good, it is based on a central purse scenario, There appears to be a hidden oligarcle group running the system, but that being said, generally speaking its a nice place.. It has one major draw-back, that is, it has an age discrimination policy.

there is no problem. they live just like normal people practicing their own beliefs. everybody works together as a team. something we lack today in our so called advanced life. why don't you get all your facts straight before you go judging other people's life styles.
