    I just bought a black SE RWD 2 weeks ago - love it. For many reasons, not the least that this model can tow 2300 and my teardrop is 2000 soaking wet (tongue, etc.) so it buys a little wiggle room. Taking it on a 2400 RT visit to family for a memorial service in three weeks. Already mapped out my charging, and I am in great shape, TX to MI.

    We're in California and just leased a new 2023 Ioniq 5 to get the $7500 rebate. We love it so far! We test drove the Tesla Y and model 3. I bought Digital Teal Ioniq 5 2023 model. Have had it six months now and love, love, love it! Took it on a 600 mile round trip and had NO PROBLEM finding available fast chargers. I absolutely get 300 mi. on a full charge around town - even in winter. The mileage gauge gives you a reading of how many miles you can travel with the current style of driving and use of climate control. That is why it may seem like it fluctuates quickly. If you are gunning it, running the heat on high, etc. it will use more charge. I purchased in January and we had a cold winter and I did not notice much difference, but I do have an in-home charger. When I was on the open road, it was summer and I had to run a/c. Got much less mileage on the road. Hyundai has a deal with Electrify America for free charging on your Hyundai purchase for TWO YEARS. Has been a great experience and I have never owned a car that I loved more. My Hyundai dealership cannot keep them in stock and doesn't get many. That is Hyundai's fault, I guess. They cannot keep up with the demand.

    Absolutely a wonderful car. I have the SEL AWD …I absolutely can’t find anything bad about this car.
    It’s so quiet and fast as heck. It charges so much faster than any car…I usually leave while other cars are still charging at public places. Not sure why Tesla doesn’t have a few buttons like Ioniq 5 as this makes it faster/easier to control a/c, etc.
    Comfortable and very roomy. Only downside I can find is I had to go to dealer for updates.

    Everything depends on the use case. I live in Europe (Belgium) so distances are limited.I've got a Diesel engine Volvo V60cc. My wife has an EV Hyundai. My cost of ownership is clearly a lot higher. My wife charges at home from our solar panels for about 90% of her annual needs. I have to use gas stations and fuel prices are +- double of what they are in the US / 70% higher than in Canada. I can do 1000 km's on a single tank. My wife her EV has about a 420km's real range average. But does it make such a difference? My daily driving is 50-100 km's a day on average. In weekends it can be a bit more but rarely above 200 km's. I barely did two 400+ km's trips in a single day in an entire year (I work full time, wouldn't know when I would fit in 4+ hours of driving in a single day more often). And in those cases I stopped after about 3-4 hours of driving anyway to stretch my legs / get a coffee / take a toilet break or was at the location for several hours. I could have charged the car to 80%-100% without any issue as it takes only 15-20 minutes. Infrastructure has already developed at a high speed and in 3 years time, all of the key highways in Europe should have a fast charging infrastructure with high speed charging every 60 km's. So I'm switching to an EV as it fits my lifestyle (Ioniq5 - leasing for tax reasons)

    Not selling? Dunno what you're talking about, as I've had a helluva time trying to find one in my preferred configuration. Last quarter they were in 3rd place for EV sales in my state, only surpassed by Tesla and Rivian. If they really aren't selling elsewhere, I'd surmise that it's only because Hyundai needs to join the other automakers that have committed to transition to NACS over the next couple of years. If consumers knew that was going to happen, they'd snatch them up in a heartbeat.

    I have watched a variety of reviews on the Ioniq 5 2024 model, I like this review a lot because it's a real opinion. The Ioniq 5 is a great EV, I just wished the mileage per charge was 350 miles or better, here in the Carolinas charging stations are scarce and there are no tax incentives to trade in for an EV.

    09:40 What a bunch of nonsense. If my car charges to 80% and the temp drops to -30c it will show 78% when I start driving. Its basic chemistry of the battery - if the temperature rises to 30c the battery will show 82%. When cold the battery will not drain just sitting. You make it sound it's like 20% - which it's not. Do you leave your tires plugged in a compressor for the night in case of fluctuations as well?
    EVs are excellent winter drivers, the most electrified countries in Europe are in Scandinavia where we regularly see temps around -10 to -20 during winter. No more do I need to start my car 15 mins before leaving just to heat the car up. No more do I have to accept that my car consumes about 75% more just because it's cold and its costing me a fortune. With a EV I can accept a higher consumption because electricity is dirt cheap comparing to gas. If I charge during the night it cost me around 1-2 USD to fill the car up.
    Practical advantages of EVs summarised: Heats up alot quicker than a regular car (no need to wait for a engine to get warm). Better handling because of a lower placement of weight due to the battery. Better ability to modulate the throttle reducing risk of getting stuck in the snow or slipping. More weight on the traction wheels, important if you opt out 4WD which you do NOT need, spend the money on better tires instead.

    I'm surprised that you say that when you leave an EV a few weeks alone the battery has lost a lot of power. It's not my expwerience.
    Next, when heating up the car you'll use up a lot of power extra. On short drives, every time starting cold the range will drop if you use the battery for hearing up.
    On long drives the loss is not big...at least not much bigger as in petrol cars (they also loose range in the cold)...if you have a version with heat pump.
    Taking 500-800 watts for the heatpunp usage and 10-16 KW for the engine. It's 5 % loss due to heating during the travel. (And another 5% to 10% because cold air is heavier ...which increases drag...but that loss you'll find with all cars.)

    Doesn't get access to the tax credit unless you lease, and people aren't used to leasing being much of a thing anymore. Leasing is better for EVs anyway, seeing as the tech is developing so fast that some thing brand new today will seem dated in 36 months further effecting it's value.
    There's also some love/hate with the styling. I hate it cause I hate "retro futurism", especially when it's whatever fantasy fever dream version of the 80s this is from. The EV6 looks so much better.

    Only EV’s on market besides the higher end luxury stuff that makes financial sense is Tesla. Nobody wants junk Korean K Pop cars. Beyond that would just stick with ICE if don’t have at least $75K+ to spend. Then can look at Taycan, e-Tron, etc. the new Lotus EV’s could be interesting but they’re British Chinese so probably not.

    EVs are not worth it. Still burning fossil fuels to produce electricity.
    Also the range should be minimum 700 miles for all EVs. Otherwise you are charging more often which is still burning fuels elsewhere which voids the whole idea of zero emissions.
    Charging should also be no more than 5 minutes for full charge.
    But worst is the damage the environment will take when batteries have to be replaced….
    Far worse than any fossil fuel burning have ever done.

    • @melvinholland9656
      @melvinholland9656 Рік тому

      Interesting take. I assume you don't own an EV since they "aren't worth it". I own two. My take....first, 21% of power in the US is produced by renewables and the percentage grows each year. In 2010 it was 9%. 80%-90% of charging an EV is done at home. I have solar and Powerwalls and thereby charge the EVs for free. That means no maintenance and free fuel. OTAs improve my vehicles free of charge. Does your ICE vehicle improve with time and operate for free? Third, 10 year old Teslas are still on the road with 200,000 miles on original batteries. So the battery hell you envision hasn't materialized. They will be recycled just like lead acid batteries. The EU already mandates such. Finally, please don't forget all the pollution ICE vehicles have produced for a century right along with all the catastrophic oil spills and pipeline ruptures that have occurred world wide.

    • @BigBearHostel
      @BigBearHostel Рік тому

      Don't listen to clueless here.. the batteries are already recycled yo!
      And it only costs me .09c per mile here in California where the grid is 50% renewables.
      Every year the electric grid is more renewable. Your oil burner is still 100% oil powered. Where we are increasingly sun \ wind powered.

    I notice even in the 6 months I've had my EV,, the EA stations are overwhelmed from all the people lined up for free charging. I think EVs are becoming more mainstream, so people don't need to keep doing research. They will get press if someone makes a breakthrough car or adds a fun feature, but now Teslas are everywhere and they're getting really boring to look at.

  • @vulpixelful
    @vulpixelful Рік тому +2

    Clickbait for an obviously old video. The EV battery drain is minimal when parked and not plugged in. You'd literally have to abandon your car for months at a time to have substantial battery drain that way 😂 You also have to start the engine of ICE vehicles from time to time, and you'd have to do more than just plug them in if there is a problem due to having just sat there.
    And there's more EVs out now than just Teslas, so of course those videos would no longer hold the market share of views for EV enthusiasts...

    Because Hyundais are crap! The high voltage battery in my 2017 Sonata PHEV died under warranty when the car was only four years old with 42,000 miles. Hyundai refused to repair or replace the battery under warranty. I had to go through non lemon law arbitration to have the vehicle repurchased, which I won easily. However, Hyundai then decided to miscalculate the repurchase amount and attempted to underpay me by $2000.00. This forced me to go through arbitration a second time, which I won (again). The whole process took 18 months…No loaner. If you own a Hyundai…Sell that piece of crap while you can…
