Ok so I understand you dont have this product yet, but to quote its capable of '9.1.4' when there appears to be only 2 upward firing speakers seems a bit of an over reach. The other interesting item to note is the shrinking weight of the Sub. It started with Gen1/2 being 16kg and is now listed as just over 11kg. Thats quite a weight saving based on what I wonder?

The mini is basically as good for half the price. Sonos needs to give us a version of a traditional 12” subwoofer in a box so we can actually hit some decent lows within our setup. I have 5 Sonos subs( a gen 1, gen, 2, gen 3, and two sub minis) all in the same general area of my house, because I’m basically trying to make up for the lack of punch these things provide as compared to a good traditional powered sub in a box.

The era 300 used them as surrounds they disable the front woofer if you want to use them for music you have unpair them as surrounds is crazy just because they say so I’m the one that paid a grand for them let me decide what I want and what sounds best for me thing is the ARC for music is horrible I don’t even bother at all with music unlike the playbar which it was a all around soundbar music and movies and raw power way better mids than the arc by far but I let my self get influenced by this bias you tubers on top of everything the older the product or the less they sell they raise the prices by 100$ every 8 months or so the arc ultra by spring next year it will be $1,200
Hello, I have two questions. Question 1: I have a Sanus Extendable Soundbar TV Mount Designed for Sonos Arc Sound bar for my current SONOS ARC, will this mount be compatible with the ARC ULTRA? Question 2: I currently have a Sonos ARC + 2 ERA 300s + SUB GEN 3. for a 7.1 Atmos System. If I upgrade ONLY the ARC to the ARC Ultra would that give me that 9.1.6 audio or would I need to upgrade the SUB GEN 3 to SUB Gen 4?
I'm planning on upgrading my Playbase to an Arc Ultra. I have an original Sonos Sub, is there really that much of a difference between the original Sonos Sub and the lastest Sub? I don't mind dropping a grand on a new sound bar, but how much of a difference is the really between the subs?
Looking forward to the Arc Ultra, as an option for my first soundbar with my brand new LG G3. In doubt about needing a sub (as the base might be better in the ultra). Understand arc ultra and sub4 has mayht tech whereas era300 is still on old Sonos tech. This would be like combining 2 diff brand of speakers into a home theatre setup. Will this affect the sound signature?
Will it support all the codecs of the day? I’m talking all the Dolby and DTS flavors, not just the base versions. Looks like ATMOS is covered but for my home theater folks it would be nice to know before you open up your wallet. Thanks!

For instance, Sony tvs even the most expansive still only offer 2 hdmi 2.1 ports and one of them is the Earc port which effectively means that if you use a sonos soundbar you are left with a single hdmi 2.1 port. Ideally this new arc soundbar would have included 1 hdmi 2.1 input port. Its just make sense because having 4 hdmi ports doesnt mean you are happy wasting one for a soundbar that does nothing else than sound while the competitors almost all have a input or even 2.
No HDMI passthrough is a big issue for me. Unless reviews paint this out to be night and day difference from the arc and sun gen 3. As of right now, it's a no
I have been a long standing fan of Sonos products and support - until the App update. Sadly, experience was so poor that i won’t be buying again until post mortem and corrective actions are taken to make sure that Sonos won’t do it to us, their customers, again (I don’t mean just getting the app to work properly again). 😢

Is the v2 Arc+Gen 4 sub = v1 Arc+dual Gen 3 subs? I have the Arc v1, dual Gen 3 subs, and Fives for surrounds. Can we use dual Gen 3 subs with the v2 Arc or does one of the dual subs need to be a Gen 4?
Bluetooth is neat, but ... i was expecting at least one hdmi 2.1 port in upgrade, and DTS:X codec support after 4,5 years. And fingers crossed if it will recognize the ACE out of the box since the Sonos App and the updates were an disaster the past year.
Soundmotion tech is really interesting; it reinvents the voice coil/magnet structure and likely uses the patents they acquired when they bought Mayht, a startup that invented very similar technology (then named HeartMotion).

@@EdGarner-sg1mz Pretty much most of them lol. If your TV doesn't have an eARC port for Atmos true hd you can bypass plugging directly into the bar itself. Some TVs won't support DTS so this also allows this to work. It usually also cures lip sync issues if you ever experience those going directly into the bar. If your TV only has 2 hdmi 2.1 ports one usually being eARC also allows you to use multiple gaming consoles if you have more than 1 etc.
Huge bummer! I was at least hoping for HDMI passthrough. Especially with the premium price of Sonos vs the others that do offer these two things. The Sonos arc ultra is already dated before launch. Unless this sound motion is a game changer I won't be upgrading.

I sold away my full Arc+Sub+Ones sound system earlier this year as I have bought an Apple Vision Pro (AVP). I think sound systems like these are going the way of the vinyl - i.e., for niche applications, as better and cheaper headsets come out. The movie experience in the AVP far exceeds what one can get for the same price with a full home theatre system. Plus it is portable and can travel with you.
Sonos replacing my Beam gen2 but the whole process looking to take around 2-3 weeks, so I’ll be without sound for this long😭 surely they’d ship a replacement at same time as return package so I’m not at a loss, like Apple for instance but no continued disadvantage to customer

I know that Sonos big thing is wireless integration, but I wish it had a hardwired sub option. The sound bar seems great otherwise . But I think I’ll stick with Klipsch core 300 coming out since it’s one of the only soundbars with sub port
I doubt there will be much difference, there wasn't between the Sub 2 and Sub 3. I recently bought a second Sub 3 seeing they've been discounted. So I did suspect a new'un would be dropping anytime. I've had my Arc four years now so I'm definitely going to upgrade to the Ultra but not my two Sub 3's as they'll be fine, well I sure as hell hope so!
I'm still waiting for the software update to automatically turn off the Sub during specific hours. Such a shame that I have to go through 5 menus to do so to not disturb my neighbours
30% of sound is bass. So going to a 12” sub is ideal for a soundbar like Polk HTS12. I found the Blusound Soundbar+ way better sound with its much larger drivers and a 12” sub.. I had the arc, Blusound, LG, and Samsung at home all at once thinking the arc was going to be best but the Blusound and LG won over on audio quality for music, and action movies. However the rear addon 300 speakers are superior for Atmos. I helped my friend buy an arc, 300 surrounds and two subs. The 300 are essential!! And add 2 arc subs not one.
Android TruPlay calibration is certainly welcomed, however still no DTS-HD or DTS: X support.... IDK, there are so many other comparable options these days, but also have the lossless DTS supports and an HDMI-in port. Colour me disappointed.
Not sure why Sonos can’t give us an adjustable dialogue volume slider for the original Arc within the controller? The dialogue clarity button makes a very minimal difference - on, or off. I also think Sonos missed the boat not going back to a rectangle shaped cabinet similar to the playbar. That would allow for the base drivers to move more air within the unit. The original arc’s lack of base is totally caused its cabinet design. They should have given us more HDMI ports, and DTS decoding at that price. Sheer laziness on the part of the company for giving us a 4th generation of the exact same underwhelming subwoofer.
There’s never a reason to not have 2 subs. This better be compatible with 2 subs. Specifically sun gen 3’s otherwise Sonos is going to have a ton of complaints.
You should always add the sub. Even if you don't like loud impactful bass. You can easily just turn the sub down to where you are happy with it and still get to hear the lower frequencies you otherwise wouldn't without it and it frees up the power available to the arc for higher frequency performance. Still no DTS support? I get it's getting increasingly rare with Atmos basically becoming the standard but people might still own DTS material and not including it on a product at this price point is unacceptable. I still think it's weird you don't have the option to add dedicated front left and right speakers if you're happy to buy them, unless they're adding that? Given the total cost of this and the surrounds it's going to be in a similar ball park in price to the Sony theatre quad and my gut says the Sony will comfortably beat it particularly in sound placement but time will tell.
I’ve been wanting to upgrade my beam surround setup for a while. But I don’t trust Sonos. I suffer numerous dropouts that then take hours to reconnect all speakers and disconnecting reconnecting WiFi/powering off speakers etc. why there isn’t a restart within the Sonos network I do not know. I don’t trust Sonos. Their reliance on software they can break in an instant is infuriating. Like others here after the app break that was the final straw. They need to fix the network setup to make it much more resilient reliable and user friendly first. Releasing more ready to break products doesn’t do anything other than show their focus is just on shiney products not on a bullet proof setup. For the price tag it’s just not good enough.
One thing is for sure they didn't listen to the user's, because people wanted DTS to support Blu-ray and imax enhanced and it doesn't has it, no HDMI pass through again so adding to the lack of faith people have the brand this is a no for me.
Still an easy pass. Sonos dont support all sound formats platback on disks. Also, if i was to buy sonos again i would get off amazon then i know i have returns for upto two years if something goes wrong.

The only explanation I can come up with is lower quality cabinet materials. Generally the start of a good subwoofer begins with its cabinet.

Everyone seems to be rushing to put out a video that literally just reads specs. More thought was put into the thumbnail.
Some would rather watch a video than read 4 pages of specs. Each to their own :-)

No extra HDMI ports, no DTS:HD/X still makes them a weaker player just down to these two reasons.

the usual ARC is great, there is not reason to "upgrade" at all, especially if you got it half price from the new one

I had the arc, Blusound, LG, and Samsung at home all at once thinking the arc was going to be best but the Blusound and LG won over on audio quality for music, and action movies. However the rear addon 300 speakers are superior for Atmos.
I helped my friend buy an arc, 300 surrounds and two subs. The 300 are essential!! And add 2 arc subs not one.
Android TruPlay calibration is certainly welcomed, however still no DTS-HD or DTS: X support.... IDK, there are so many other comparable options these days, but also have the lossless DTS supports and an HDMI-in port. Colour me disappointed.
Not sure why Sonos can’t give us an adjustable dialogue volume slider for the original Arc within the controller? The dialogue clarity button makes a very minimal difference - on, or off. I also think Sonos missed the boat not going back to a rectangle shaped cabinet similar to the playbar. That would allow for the base drivers to move more air within the unit. The original arc’s lack of base is totally caused its cabinet design. They should have given us more HDMI ports, and DTS decoding at that price. Sheer laziness on the part of the company for giving us a 4th generation of the exact same underwhelming subwoofer.
I've been waiting for the Arc update... looks good to me, especially with the variable dialogue enhancement and the lower bass performance.
The whole app update fiasco, still not fixed, ruined the confidence in buying any more Sonos gear.
2 sub 4s would be the ultimate no?
There’s never a reason to not have 2 subs. This better be compatible with 2 subs. Specifically sun gen 3’s otherwise Sonos is going to have a ton of complaints.
We bought the original ARC without the sub. I have to say I was disappointed compared to our other audio systems we have .

9.1.4 is only supported if paired to Era 100 / 300 rear speakers

You should always add the sub. Even if you don't like loud impactful bass. You can easily just turn the sub down to where you are happy with it and still get to hear the lower frequencies you otherwise wouldn't without it and it frees up the power available to the arc for higher frequency performance.
Still no DTS support? I get it's getting increasingly rare with Atmos basically becoming the standard but people might still own DTS material and not including it on a product at this price point is unacceptable.
I still think it's weird you don't have the option to add dedicated front left and right speakers if you're happy to buy them, unless they're adding that?
Given the total cost of this and the surrounds it's going to be in a similar ball park in price to the Sony theatre quad and my gut says the Sony will comfortably beat it particularly in sound placement but time will tell.

I’ve been wanting to upgrade my beam surround setup for a while. But I don’t trust Sonos. I suffer numerous dropouts that then take hours to reconnect all speakers and disconnecting reconnecting WiFi/powering off speakers etc. why there isn’t a restart within the Sonos network I do not know. I don’t trust Sonos. Their reliance on software they can break in an instant is infuriating. Like others here after the app break that was the final straw. They need to fix the network setup to make it much more resilient reliable and user friendly first. Releasing more ready to break products doesn’t do anything other than show their focus is just on shiney products not on a bullet proof setup. For the price tag it’s just not good enough.

its quite dissapoint coze DTS:X is not featured in this new ARC Ultra :(
One thing is for sure they didn't listen to the user's, because people wanted DTS to support Blu-ray and imax enhanced and it doesn't has it, no HDMI pass through again so adding to the lack of faith people have the brand this is a no for me.

Still an easy pass. Sonos dont support all sound formats platback on disks. Also, if i was to buy sonos again i would get off amazon then i know i have returns for upto two years if something goes wrong.
Same size same driver size it seems so I doubt much will change. Still piss poor for tone of money. Samsung does it better for half price

That used to be the case but Disney plus support IMAX enhanced DTS X and others will soon catch up!
