The Zorb definitely ought to be maindeck here. Tutorable with saga second way for infinite fastbond, also gains infinite life, fewer clicks than recurring strip/waste to combo with Bazaar... definitely better than Citadel.

I’m surprised no Zuran Orb(s) to help with the infinite mana and work around Fastbond. I don’t know if it’s tutorable with Saga, but might have helped. Love the content keep it up ❤️
There's one in the side, but it does seem like something that should be mained for sure, it literally closes the Strip Mine loop with Bazaar and makes Fastbond instantly into infinite mana. And yes, Zuran Orb is tutorable with Saga.
I was about to suggest something nutty like Nomad Stadium as a somewhat-functional second Glacial Chasm, but holy cow Zuran Orb is such a better answer.
Why no Zuran orb in this deck? It's tutorable with urza's saga and it goes infinite with fastbond+crucible: infinite life, infinite mana and infinite loot with bazar. Seems like a perfect fit.
In round 3 you were doing the Tameshi combo and drew a tinker. I don’t know exact math, but I think you can tinker black lotus into expedition map, search for chasm and win with Fastbond combo. You win anyway by chumping Tameshi, but you may have had it a turn earlier.
21:48 Correct play is probably Tropical Island from graveyard into pitchcast Force of Vigor on Sol Ring and Mana Crypt, then Strip Mine their Urza’s Saga on your next turn. This locks them under their own Sphere and denies the mana they need to activate Saga unless they draw Ancient Tomb or something. Sure, this leaves you with “no plan to win,” but Fastbond alone isn’t enough and you’re gonna bleed out to Patchwork Automaton, especially if you let them cast more spells with their mana while waiting to overcome Sphere + Ward 2.
Love the Vintage content on the channel, also kinda unfortunate that Mono White Initiative didn't show up in this league, it's one of my favorite decks in the format and I'm always eager to learn more about unique matchups.
it's kinda refreshing to see even top players playing decks that don't make particular sense, sometime. I mean if it's a combo deck with bazar/chasm/rivulet/strip mine/crucible (quite a convoluted combo for vintage, btw)... I don't know what time vault or the whole blue package is doing there. overall this looks like a pile of the most classic vintage stuff plus 3 copies of fastbond just because someone wanted to try the 3x now that it's legal. I would guess the classic stax build + fastbond, 4 shops 3 wasteland 1 strip mine maybe 2 boseju and the rivulet combo would make more sense (if you really want to play this combo).
I like the deck too, I also feel like Citadel and even Divining top needs to be cut. It's just one more 2 card combo, and it doesnt work with the Glacial Chasm theme (because you're paying life, not taking damage). You should also consider Copy Artifact with Artifact Lands, this gives you infinite mana with Tameshi. I'm also surprised this deck doesnt play Lotus Petal, it works really with with Tameshi and Fastbond. Maybe even Lion's Eye Diamond. I would also cut Rivelet, you do not need a mill win combo when you have infinite turns and (unblockable) Saga Tokens. More Glacial Chasms could also straight up be useful. Also not a big fan of the one off Workshop and Trinisphere, and tabenacle in the mainboard. This seems too much like sideboard stuff to me
Made some modifications to this list based on these games. I cut the Tinker package, Teferi, Top, Chalice, and Gush. Changed the off-color moxes (and Diamond) to Elvish Spirit Guides as additional fast green sources not shut down by artifact hate. Added a Karn to be a MB one-sided Ouphe, and give us access to another Zuran Orb, Crucible, and Trinisphere (which I moved to the side) in G1. Added a Zuran Orb to MB (still one in the side). Added a Living Wish to give us access to Courser, Ouphe, another Glacial Chasm, and Karakas in G1. Added a 2nd Glacial Chasm to MB. Added two "The One Ring", which buys time, unbricks land heavy hands without pieces, and allows T1 nutdraws with Lotus. I don't play a lot of vintage, just looked primarily at which cards often came up duds in these games, particularly the ones which also hurt us. Doubled down on the go-fast plan. Here's the link: www.moxfield.com/decks/Qx1oFtiR-0aGz-H_OyeGHw
49:21 you said you would have to sac your crucible to tinker but you can sac lotus. Current state: UUU in pool, 2 lands and lotus in play Sac lotus for WWW, pay W and bounce tundra to return lotus. Sac lotus for WWW, pay W and bounce saga to return lotus. You now have WWWWUUU in your pool (you could also have a colorless from saga), both crucible and lotus in play. Tinker costs 5 so you could pay for it sacrificing lotus as the artifact and have 3 mana left over. Grab map with the tinker, use all but 1 mana to sac it and find chasm. Then you have 1 mana and 1 life to go nuts with chasm + fastbond + crucible Edit: this is all assuming I remember what tameshi does. I’m watching this on a train in Italy so it’s like 480p and I can’t read it. But pretty sure this like works
You found the line later. but if you really want your brain to melt. @47:30 ish when you were messing with timeshi. tinker into map into chasm lets you built up to mystic sanctuary to tinker into vault key by mystic tinker use bazaar, mystic tinker use bazaar. there's also a chance im wrong because of all the moving parts and i missed something doing it all in my head. but damn i love this deck hahahaha.
I made my own 0 power vintage deck that has a main win con of playing lands and 2 pieces I include in it that are beneficial for my specific build that might be useful in this would be (lesser so) Trade Routes and (more so) Zuran Orb as Orb + Fastbond + Crucible effect = infinite life and mana. The combo with Trade Routes gives infinite draw as well. Edit: I reached the point of the video where I saw you have Orb in the board.
I don’t quite understand the zuran orb in the sideboard since with fastbond and crucible you can gain infinite life and mana, and if you add a bazaar you can just mill your entire deck, so why isn’t it mainboard as a standard piece of the combo?
at 17:50, is it possible to skip a turn to untap time vault to avoid paying cumulative upkeep on glacial chasm? not saying it's the better play -- just genuinely don't know if that's how it works haha
At least in Forge (and probably on mtgo), you can just say "No" to paying the upkeep on glacial chasm in order to immediately put it back down. Since it would be the first land of the turn, the fastbond wouldn't damage you and it would prevent damage for the rest of the turn. Obviously, depending on your life total and the opponent, that could leave you in a risky position against lightning bolts and so on, and it requires having both fastbond and crucible up already (at which point you're basically already infinite), but once you get the gears rolling you probably shouldn't have to lose life even to prevent losing life.
I'm currently trying to brew a Canadian Highlander build of this deck using what I'm allowed to within the parameters of the points system. It's either going to be a build that jams all the 1-2 mana black tutors or a more Bomberman-like Black Lotus / Tameshi build. Regardless from what I've seen Zuran Orb seems like a must for this deck since it works like an alternative to Glacial Chasm. With Zuran, Fastbond, a Crucible-type effect plus a dredger (Loam or Dakmore Salvage) you can mill your whole deck with Bazaar.
I love the concept, but I believe it wants something like a platinum angel in the main deck with how much it's asking of your life points to matter in game 1 situations
On 30:05 i believe u should've holded the extra card in hand, than u can select to keep a card to use later during the loop (tutor, recall, tinker, etc)
One haywire mite in the side for Saga utility to kill Leylines turn 3-4 would feel good. Some Enlightened Tutors for more consistent turn 2 goldfishes? Also for backup Time Vault combo, maybe even instead of Tinker. Workshop seems great on paper but may be a detriment more often than not. Teferi is too slow against counter spells in this turn 2 win deck, but Containment Priest in the side might be some strange tech against bazaar, dredge, and oath instead.
Neat deck, really enjoyed the Show. If you want to interact more with creatures, maybe a single aether spell bomb might be fine. Can bei tutored by Saga and looped with tameshi.
It'd be nice to see more vintage content, but it seems hard to make when every deck needs a hundred hours experience to milk every percentage point to win.
23:40 on the concession, can we not play strip mine, force pitching fastbond targetting patchwork and foundry inspector, pay 1 for sphere and 2 for ward, play for turns on mana crypt? OP hellbent.
as someone who has no clue about vintage, i have a question: wouldnt you want 4 copies of fastbond to increase the chance of getting it in the opening hand? what is the reason for only having 3?
As Bosh said, having a second copy is generally unneeded and actively awful in play (one life for a land is fridge at best in modern vintage, getting shocked per extra land drop is just too much). The deck can churn to it fairly quick to find fastbond as a 3-of and there just aren't that many slots if one really wanted the 4-of.
Radiant Fountain would be a nice addition as it lets you have infinite colorless mana with Fastbond, Strip Mine and Crucible. Hermit Druid seems too slow to be worth it but how about Hedron Crab? It helps you find your stuff and serves as a mill win condition. Edit: Also Mesmeric Orb. Feels like an Icarus scenario but just generates sooo much card advantage. Edit 2: Scratch the Orb. I forgot Boseiju can't kill your own stuff... 😅
If Teferi is mainly there as a preemptive form of interaction, maybe Defense Grid would be a better fit. Also Glacial Chasm is a miserable do-nothing, but also seems essential when it’s go time. Maybe you need a second one.
It needs enlightened tutor. Also, Zuran Orb should be in the main deck as part of the Saga package, it stabilizes the main combo and you don't have to wasteland yourself.
