I’ve been saying this for 5-6 years now, but FIFA was in its prime from FIFA 12-FIFA 17. Sometimes, less is more and that applies to all the special cards nowadays that apart from cosmetics, play pretty similar to their base card. And I’d even argue that the Fifas that are even better were the ones where Silver and even some bronze players were viable.
Yes bro. Less is more when it comes to fut. Even trading, tho I never really got into it, was fun. I did it here and there. But I remember Marquee matchups used to be a top tier SBC were silvers & bronze would sell for 10k. So you check your club if you have those expensive silver players and list them up. It’s little things like this that made 17 so fun & engaging. I just miss the grind for the team. Golds were still usable till tots. Now, after 1-3 weeks, all the golds apart from like 5 are above 100k. You can’t get excited when you pack a good player because they’re worthless on the market. Packing good meta players don’t even hit the same as well because everyone have them. I packed Cruyff, red Haaland, and I didn’t even flinch. Takes away from the fun.

Y’all are crazy, the only thing FIFA should bring back is relegation for rivals but the gameplay from back then is slow, lacks options to be creative, etc. The real issue is the player base are rats and spam whatever they can to win….watching skillz gameplay from 17 is like watching baseball or basketball from the 80’s and trying to compare it to the modern day

It allowed you to play faster because player movement actually existed, and if you wanted to play a slower tempo, the player movement would allow you to do that as well. For example, DMs in 17 with no instructions, behave more like a deep lying playmaker than DMs in 24 with the DLP instructions. People rely on being rats because the game defaults to drop back, leading trivelas, finesse shots, and early through balls to be the only way to score consistently. Either do that or just run down the wing and force a cutback to ignore the drop back all together. Honestly, just fixing player movement and drop back alone will make the gameplay better. I don’t even think AI defending is as horrible as they make it out to be, it’s only really amplified because of drop back and the lack of player movement. Having to rely on player locking for any attacking movement at all just shows laziness and ignorance on EA’s part imo.
FIFA 13 UT was peak and I feel like 2017 was when the perfect mix of gameplay and skill was met. Back then you saw a rare player and you knew the guy coming up needed to be respected. Nowadays week 1 you see RARE AND LEGENDARY players
dont agree almost no one talked bad when Fifa 15-18 was out, was the time pes totally died because Fifa was so much better, sure some people complained but they still liked it, now many people just stopped playing, now its almost only kids which play the game, with the credit cards of there parents, and help of giant ai defending handicap ans scripted games always

I can press the pass button and go to toilet and return and the ball wouldn't have moved over to the intending receiver of the pass 😂😂 The input lag in current gen Fifa on the ps5 is a complete abomination and makes the game a no go area.

FIFA 17 had that perfect blend of where you could still use low rated players throughout the game cycle but also had lots of new fun promos that kept the game fun all year round. I remember I bought mustafi and kept him in my team literally until the end somehow.

Yeah they’re so consistency with the out come of situations, not getting block animations in the same situation. Some players pull out some crazy dribble animation when people are close to me. Like how you gonna do that only when a defender is getting close but never any other time. The LB doesn’t work as good as it used too.
fifa has gone down hill because they dont do anything exciting , draft rewards are terrible and everyone has 10 icons within the first four months , so people have nothing to grind for and they need more xp objectives updating constantly so people can get to top level of season rewards , cause not everyone plays online or champions etc
Seasons in ultimate team back in the day was so much better than crappy div rivals. Skill gap has been nerfed, promos have saturated the game to within an inch of its life and mugs still buy points. 40 games Friday morning to monday morning was crazy tho 😂

I've been playing FIFA since 1994... What killed it was weekend league... Game used to be fun before that. You didn't care if you win or lose, now everyone's playing like a crack head trying to get his next fix, game became toxic, rewards used to be good with the monthly rewards but they removed that also. Now I'm not moaning because I can hit 14-16 wins every week but the rewards I get are just simply not worth the time or stress
I agree to 1000% with everything you said, Fifa 17 was also my favourite game by far, if this game would be back I would play it all day long, one of the biggest things Fifa 17 had was the ai of our attackers made so nice runs all the time playing was just so fun, and If I lost games I never was pissed because when I lost I lost against someone which was just better then me, I stopped Fifa in fifa19 which was the first game were everything changed and there it was exactly like it is now in fc24, you loose to people which are so much worst then you just because the game wants it like this, just so they dont stop buying packs, that's what makes you so angry if you play against someone which dont play s** but the game just screws you over then you loose and you want to smash the controller totally unhealthy

I remember getting this schone inform card for 30k. I was so stoked, the thought of having anything better was astronomical. Now the game doesn’t matter anymore. It’s stale and tryahard. I feel a lot of games have died because the game is catered to tryhards more and more
I didn’t like 17. It was the first time where I quit a game only 2 months in and I didn’t return until FIFA 19. 19 funnily enough I played from day 1 until the day before FIFA 20 came out. That’s where the decline began for me.
Back then a controller would last me AT LEAST 1 year, maybe even 2, until it started bugging or stick drifting. Now I'm up to 2-3 controllers per year and other broken things aside from ps related stuff. That says a lot.

And some of them are not even original, even though they are from sony, just have cheaper parts or components that are more fragile.. and I'm not refering when you smack it against the wall, just their lifespan is shorter than it used to be

As a player who is pretty casual, I would actually have to disagree that the game now is catered to the real casual player. If you cannot upgrade ur team everyday/every week, if you cant get massive 20-0's and luck out on good rewards, if you arent sweating your balls off by triggering ratty animations also getting lucky ai interceptions, then you will never get better nor will you have fun playing FC. Everything is very pay to win and ratty nowadays, I would've loved to play a more simple football game while also still being somewhat competitive but with a REAL skill gap and not rat plays and tactics, a fc that is actually a real football game, that mimics the sport, bc in real life, people arent taking finesse shots from way outside the box, people arent hitting ball rolls and shot cancels all the time irl. I sadly never played FIFA 17 as i wasn't into football at the time. but this is what I want the fc games to play like, but i sadly think this will never happen again, all these popular games right now are so sweaty and ratty with the people that play them and if you arent making this game ur full time job, ur outta luck.

That was the first fifa using frost bite engine and first half of the year was overload ball side super press. Then 2nd half of the year was ball shielding was super strong every game since I would say 14 has had its own quirks. I still stand by 19 being the worst game in the series that El Tornado 🌪️ cross meta was awful.
Auto block was the reason I stopped playing you'll shoot from far you see vvd jump 20ft in the air chest it down slap a overtop ball and you lose a goal
Never understood why people hated FC 24, but when I played it for the first time, I understood exactly why. The animations/mechanics are terrible, and the game feels nothing like old FIFA games.

I sadly never played FIFA 17 as i wasn't into football at the time. but this is what I want the fc games to play like, but i sadly think this will never happen again, all these popular games right now are so sweaty and ratty with the people that play them and if you arent making this game ur full time job, ur outta luck.

And I’ve been messing with tactics and instructions since like 2011 and bro I’m telling you it’s not the same, so many cards just don’t listen. You just gotta have a “good card” and they’ll just blow your instructions off and get open. Like they’ll get open asf but I’m telling you they still don’t do what you ask them.

That was the first fifa using frost bite engine and first half of the year was overload ball side super press. Then 2nd half of the year was ball shielding was super strong every game since I would say 14 has had its own quirks. I still stand by 19 being the worst game in the series that El Tornado 🌪️ cross meta was awful.
In FIFA 17 I got to div 4 with a silver and gold Columbia team
They reduce the pack weight- people riot.
They let everyone have good cards- people riot.

Never understood why people hated FC 24, but when I played it for the first time, I understood exactly why. The animations/mechanics are terrible, and the game feels nothing like old FIFA games.
