Not entirely true... There's a couple of guys he's been playing with in his solo career, for example: Greg Phillinganes was there the last tour as well.
All the effin negatives on here ffs dave is nearly 80 and no doubt this will be his last tour, please just enjoy the master while we still can. I've seen Floyd many times from the first time in 1975 when i was 18 yrs old till the last time in 1994. I'm 67yrs old now and really enjoying this, and yes i saw Floyd in their prime but i am not going to be criticising David as true Pink Floyd fans wouldn't dream of doing that.
The ticket for the concerts has a “prime” price. So let Dave get out of that laziness and he should practice his own music. We like when he improvise well.
@@wetbluesba Yeah mate, you tell me how having a piss goes when you're 78, let alone writing a whole new album and putting on massive shows. The fact that he can even stand on stage is a blessing.
Even at 80, he sounds fantastic! He struggled a touch with the high notes on Comfortably Numb but not nearly as much as I'd have expected. He still sings better than the other guy on this one. He was flat in a couple spots. And David hasn't missed a step on guitar, although maybe a little less adventurous. A+ as usual! Thanks for uploading these!
He missed several steps on the guitar on this song. A few wrong notes in there. But then that's what rehearsals are for. I'm sure by the end of the tour his guitar playing will be back to its best.
@@bujin1977 Yeah, quite a few bum notes or missed notes in the other songs too, but better than someone miming to a backing track and it shows that even gods can be human.
Merci❤❤❤❤❤
There's something deeply mournful that one of the greatest guitarists to ever live may be playing his last tour. But, at the same time, we can celebrate Gilmour is alive and well and healthy enough to be touring once more to leave what could be his farewell tour without him labeling it as such. I don't mind that he was slightly off. It proves he is not using backing tracks or pre-recorded music in his sets. Just bummed that tickets are so expensive for this tour as I got to see Waters & Mason in their recent tours. I'm going to have to splurge for the tickets somehow.
Excuse me but that song was epic in Live at Pompeii with Bryan Chambers. The current singer can not do anything in comparison. And Dave did what he is used to do: improvise too match and play out of scale.
The trouble with the coments is they expect them all to be comfortable numb and wish you were here there not he’s trying something new for me i think his new stuff is good
Boy solo was bit rough I hope he would get rust off, last tour he has been playing better as tour progressed, this time hes not gonna have lots of time giving how short tour will be
@@marccosta7376 You know we gather here as his fans, but it is what it is. I felt that for 2006 it was still a tail of his prime and you could sense that he had full control of what he wanted to play and brought it. 2016 he obviously lost a step but left us with many fabolous renditions of these guitar leads( Sorrow, CN at Pompeii, his last stint at RAH, you name it). This time I ve got this tense feeling through his solos of how decently would they sound and dont get me wrong some of them were still pretty good. TBH I was bit suprised that he decided to play live again because I remember him stated once maybe in RS magazine of how many mistakes he starts to make, I guess it was around 2020
@@JacobHolda Totally understand your point of view. As a 35 year old fan watching him millions of times on TV throughout Delicate sound of thunder, Pulse and even On an island, as you point, it has been a hard time for me listening to the great David Gilmour doing 2-3 mistakes every half a minute. Saw him 3 times during Rattle that lock tour and I noticed he had lost hability but he was still great. As a guitarist I have felt anxious with this video and as a fan...sad. But at a certain age you lose mental agility, creativity, speed on your fingers....I will pardon every mistake he does next week in Rome in front of me and other fans. I will never be able to give him back what he has given me.
Before anyone gets their panties in a twist David is 78 years old, there are going to be times he struggles on certain parts, his voice isn't as young as it was and quite frankly I think it's a lot better that he designates the parts he's struggling to sing to the other musicians while singing the parts he is able to. Much better than lip-syncing.
I discovered in bootleg and in the pay per view complete version of Pulse that he usually made mistakes. It is not related with his age. The thing is that we grow up listening the edited concerts. I love him but I feel a little disappointed.
Playing guitar without making mistakes is impossible especially live on studio albums you can play it 500 times through and just take all the best parts. Mistakes also lead too different sounds it can be a good thing. Plus the way I see it he's the creator of it and no one will ever play it as good as he can. and when he doesn't make mistakes people will try too copy those too.
So I may be the critical one: but let me preface this with David is the last living of my guitar gods. I have him tattooed on my arm for god's sake. But he is aging and it is so sad. This guitar performance was sub-par for him. Voice was not good either. I still paid to see him at Madison Square Garden but I'm bummed I'm not seeing David in his prime.
He tones is great as always but he needs to practice more because he’s struggling to keep up with his own solos. I expect he’ll improve significantly after a few weeks of touring
Honestly I’m hoping they are holding back some for the actual shows. He is having trouble hitting notes. Overall they are not in sync and the sound not well balanced. It’s why it’s a rehearsal…I hope. Even with that said I could listen to it over and over again. I wish he had the backup singers from last tour along with his daughter and the others. Especially on this song.
@@thedarkdefender7780 he doesn’t set the prices. And even then, what does the cost have to do with people have completely unrealistic expectations of an old man?
