I loved this! How often does Alex develop categories? Was this his first one? Was it indeed more successful than the original football category (which I must have missed whenever it was on)?
Hi Alex - this category was so much fun to watch. Is there any chance you could slide in a few CFL questions somewhere, sometime? Just a request from one Canuck to another. Take care. I’m praying for you.
That last one is kinda misleading cause Rodgers is well known for his hard count and drawing defenses offsides WAY more than 12 men on the field penalties.
The "illegal use of hands" signal (#12 in the rule book) is given with the hand open and facing forward. The description of the holding signal (#11) doesn't mention which way the hand should face, it just specify "fist clenched".
Considering how one would play Jeopardy, foul isn't a half-bad guess. It's a common term in most sports, common enough that I bet the average person would believe you if you said there was a foul in football
He had it written down wrong for the holding one. Not that it really matters, but he said it’s 10 yards no matter what. Actually, against the defense, it’s only 5 yards.
@Victor Charles a.k.a. VicGChad07 It does fit the clue, it could also mean a field goal or extra point scored. Offensive teams would love to see it, both meaning points.
Wait, the field goal unit and extra point are considered special teams, so I do see your point. But the two points conversions are run by offensive teams, so it could still be something other than a touchdown.
Two of these answers were incomplete at best. The same signal is used to indicate a made field goal or extra point as a touchdown. And the signal with both hands on top of your head is actually for illegal substitution. Too many men on the field is just one form that violation can take.
Can someone answer me a question, please? During this movie, before the Flintstones meet the Jetsons, Fred and Barney sneak into Mr. Slate's poker game. Both are wearing footwear -- Fred is wearing boots and Barney is wearing high-heeled shoes. Can someone answer me why the Flintstones' characters never wore shoes prior to this? I have seen them in the cartoon wearing slippers, or roller skates, or something like that, but how come they never wore shoes? If it is because people in the caveman days didn't wear shoes, then it doesn't work, because they also didn't have cars and TV's and stuff like that in those days. Why not the shoes until this episode, huh?
The first answer was incomplete, it also mean made field goal. The second his hand was the wrong way, that hand signal shown means nothing. The third is correct but not exclusive to offensive linemen.

Anything Trebek is great. Jeopardy is awesome. I missed 4th down, dang it.
the Rodgers one was very misleading, he is DEFINITELY known for catching teams offside and getting the free play.
derekjeterscat True but he is also for catching them with 12 men on the field, and then obviously the referee signal is for that.
But that wasn't the signal Alex gave. Offside is hands on hips, illegal participation/12 men is both hands over the head.

The third one Alex did the wrong hand motion. The first needs to be turned in, not out. What he did was illegal hands to the face, not holding.
The "illegal use of hands" signal (#12 in the rule book) is given with the hand open and facing forward. The description of the holding signal (#11) doesn't mention which way the hand should face, it just specify "fist clenched".
