R32 Skyline GTR and more with Ric Wood Motorsport at Goodwood Speedweek

- One of the the absolute stars of Goodwood Speedweek was the Calsonic Nissan Skyline R32 GTR driven by BTCC driver Jake Hill for Ric Wood Motorsport. However that wasn't all the thunder that Ric and his team bought to this event, with his Holden V8 and two V6 Capri's along for the event as well. We were lucky enough to grab a few minutes with Ric during their busy weekend to talk through the cars, what was done to build the R32, the (incredible) journey to get the Holden and the performance they can squeeze out of the Capris. Thank you to Graham for helping set up the chat and Ric for being generous with his time.

The R32 GTR was a natural ( incredible) progression from the BMW M3, &Ford Sierra in the Australian Group A touring car competition. It was refined to its most capable & reliable by Fred Gibson Motorsport’s brilliant engineers & mechanics who left the competition decades behind & dominated for a few short years before the Group A rules here were changed to ban it.
It makes me proud to be Australian, a JDM enthusiast & alive to see this magic era.

That r32 is my ultimate dream car and when I saw the real thing in an auto show a couple of years ago my love for the r32 grew. I hope I can own one someday. It’s awesome to see a such detailed replica
Should bring the Calsonic out to Bathurst, Australia and the GTR shootout we have 💯👍 absolute weapon and the young fella is a solid driver

You are forgetting even though the r32 GTR in race form only used the chassis and Crossmembers, the race vehicle was developed by Nissan personnel using Nissan parts.

I would LOVE to see someone like this man build a TB patrol motor and put it in a drift car. Sure not a heap of hp 500 if your lusky but nothing will match the torque figures. That's all drifters need!
I guarantee if you put my engine in a sky or puls it would blow away skylines they even have the same box but beefed up!

@@combativeThinker nothing we can do about it, stuff like racing-slick tyres, excessive camber, and the catless straight through exhaust is all illegal here and always has been. The livery alone would capture unwanted attention from police. It's just the moronic UK government thinking that cars are the worst thing ever to grace our planet when realistically it would be perfectly safe on the road, albeit with a somewhat stiff ride quality as expected 😂
Emissions would be the main issue, getting it through the annual MOT inspection test would be impossible unless you changed the exhaust to OEM for every test. So many factors about it make it virtually impossible to use legally on the road. Though rally cars are completely exempt for some reason lol
@@jamesrichards5601 well the reason why rally cars have to be road legal is because most rally's use public roads and therefore the law applies.

I have to ask...what's with this sudden trend of pronouncing "Nissan" as "Nissin?" The "A" sound in Japanese is _always_ an "ah" sound - Yamaha, Kawasaki, Nagasaki, Hiroshima, Honda, etc. So why the fuck are you people pronouncing the "A" in "Nissan" an "E" sound???
