The reason for Legion was pretty obvious: it was an interesting gimmick to develop around. And similar gimmicks are overall positive to see what can or can't be done with the game as a whole. Even when they don't work, the lessons learned from them: Epic was terrible, but proved that big spells should look to functionally close the game, banding showed that keeping pieces on the board was better than getting a bigger beatstick, and so on. Legion was a first step toward using creatures as instant-speed interaction, and the idea of using from-hand abilities (even instant speed ones) carried on and expanded beyond creatures, with is legacy still felt in keywords like channel to this day.
Street Wraith is going to end up seeing way more play in Rowan Scion of War decks. I would also assume someone is going to make a Rakdos Death's Shadow using Rowan. I honestly really like Yidaro Wandering Monster and want to see that being played more. I played it in a standard mono-red on Arena and it was a beast. Got it out a few times on turn 4 with Irencrag Feat but it did work on its own because of the cycling.
Don't forget the Decree cycle. Basically they're all cantrips in disguise. Decree of Justice is an interesting X-cost spell that is almost strictly better than Serra Angel. Almost. (The token doesn't have vigilance.) But if you just pay X2W instead of XX2W, you get 1/1 soldier tokens instead. (After I play Divine Visitation, though...) And in addition to those soldier tokens, you get to cantrip. Decree of Silence is not so good. It does counter the next three spells your opponent plays, but it costs 8 mana. Or you can get one counter (and a card back) for 4UU. So, no to Decree of Silence. Decree of Pain is pretty cool. I can destroy all creatures and draw a card for each creature destroyed this way for 6BB. (This is where "You have no maximum hand size." cards might be useful; since I feel the need to explain that they're usually not, I may as well say when they are.) Or I can cycle for 3BB and give all creatures -2/-2. (Massacre with a cantrip for one more, in other words.) Decree of Annihilation exiles all artifacts, creatures, and lands, and all cards in graveyards and hands for 8RR. Yeah, ten mana is gross, ,especially in red; if you have ten mana in red, you're dead. But we're only playing 5RR for Armageddon and a cantrip. Still not as good as the original Armageddon, but it's red, FWIW. Now if only players knew how to play Armageddon. Finally, Decree of Justice can put four +1/+1 counters on each creature you control for 7GG. Or four +1/+1 counters on one creature and a card for 4GG. So, the white, black, and green ones are certainly playable.

Domain Ramp with the triomes and Atraxa, Grand Unifier has been one of the top decks in standard for a while now! It got kinda pushed out at early Ixalan tournaments, but thats likely due to lots of hate for it. The deck also plays another cycling card that adds a basic land and gains you 3 life, mostly for aggro matchups.
i like Decree of Annihilation in a gimmick Barren Glory deck. but obviously not "serious" playable. 8RR Sorcery - Exile all artifacts, creatures, and lands from the battlefield, all cards from all graveyards, and all cards from all hands. cycle 5RR - destroy all lands. (Barren Glory, Enchantment 4WW - At the beginning of your upkeep, if you control no permanents other than Barren Glory and have no cards in hand, you win the game.)
I just remember curator because of its ability to infinite with that one scry partner commander. Get your hand to 8, discard at end of turn down to 7, triggers that you draw one, repeat endlessly. Try not to deck out.

The fact that Shark Typhoon neatly divides the community into a side that sees it as literal proof of MTG's impending demise and another that sees it as incredibly based clearly shows that the community is too big for its own good. There is only room in any community for one of those factions and the other should gracefully pack up and move on.
I guess the original printing of the decrees or any of the scourge cycling cards are gonna be ignored. An oldie but a goodie was Slice and Dice 6 mana to deal 4 dmg to everything or 3 mana to cycle and deal 1 dmg to everything. Or the Decrees which had wildly powerful but expensive cycle costs. Decree of annihilation which if cast for its 10 mana removed everything but enchants or if cycled blew up all lands.
I just love how, despite the Eldrazi deck being printed in Commander Masters coming with the BASIC LAND of wastes, everyone still insists that there is only 5 basic land types in the game.
