If you want to hear one of his more serious songs you need to check out Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue (The Angry American). Was written right after 9/11 and man did he love to support out troops. That and his other song American Soldier, two POWERFUL songs!!
Before Toby Keith died, the only song of his I knew was I’ll Never Smoke Weed With Willie Again. Man was I missing out.

Toby never acted like a "star" . You can hear it in his songs. He was just a normal guy who spoke for all of us. Even if he wasn't a country singer, he had a presence that we would just naturally gravitate to. As sad as I am of his passing, I am blessed to have listened to his music, and as a Veteran, i will always be thankful he had the Backs of our military when they needed it the most!!

I spent 28yrs in the Army, infantry. I can tell you this, I never met a warrior who did not like Toby Keith! The connection he had with all the troops was something unreal. I salute Toby Keith. He did USO tours 11 straight years, over 200 shows. You don't get paid for a USO gig folks. The man loved America, her people, the flag, and the troops, but was not very keen on the government. I get that. Kathryn, it is OK to cry. Every single time I hear The Red White and Blue, I do. He will be sorely missed.

Don't feel badly about shedding tears Kathryn. I have been a TK fan from the start, over a week and a half since his passing I still tear up watching his videos. Toby was an American Patriot and amazing storyteller. His passing left an absolutely unfillable void not only in country music but in our country's patriotic consciousness. RIP Big Dog, you will live forever in our hearts.

This is my favorite song. It is so sad that Toby is no longer with us. I'm 82 still playing golf a game that I know Toby loved. But I'm as good as I'm once was and I'm Still up for a rodeo with a big Texas smile on my face. He will be sadly missed but I will continue to play this song when I have had a shitty day at golf

The loss of both Toby Keith and Joe Diffie has hurt me as if they were family members, grew up listening to him both they are legends and their own separate ways but definitely a part of my life and growing up

Toby has proven the idea that people dont give a shit about artists until they are gone. Even amongst country music fans he hasn't got the respect he deserved because he made alot of "radio songs". im glad hes getting his attention now from people who otherwise wouldn't listen to country music because he really is one of the best in the genre

RIP Toby!!!.....I'll miss seeing your funny new music vids coming out!!!! Hightlights of you out doing USO tours, Stadium tours here at home and raising money for all that is good in this world!! Been a fan of yours since the beginning. Became an even bigger fan after 9/11 when your hit American Soldier came out. I was in the service at that time. Went in July 2000 got Honorably discharged Oct 2006 SSgt E-5 USAF Security Forces 3P051 HUAH! You showed so much love and support for our troops and this Country doing USO tours for all of us deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan and everywhere in between. Hell I think you were in the sandbox more than we were. Singing to the troops uplifting morale while they were taking it to the War on Terrorism and when you would come back to the States in between tours you were telling our stories at your concerts for the American people who were still saddened and maybe a lil lost and after that tragic day so they knew thousands of troops were fighting to redeem those that were innocently lost due to terrorism and evil bloodshed on our homeland!! And to bring justice and some peace of mind to their families and we appreciate you for that. You'll never be forgotten thats for sure! Definitely not in this ole Kentucky boys heart and Im sure not in the hearts of millions of other country fans either. Your music and Patriotism will live on forever through your lyrics!! Sing our Father one for me tonight and ask him to bless this nation for it needs it and tell him I'll see him soon. Love ya big guy!!
