Mihawk became the 'Sekai Saikyou no Kenshi', which translates to the World's Strongest Swordsman, by default because Shanks sacrificed his left dominant arm for Luffy. In the past, both swordsmen dueled many times for the title, as Shanks and Mihawk are the two strongest swordsmen in the world. However, the competition was halted when Shanks became crippled. While Shanks retains tremendous Haki, his swordsmanship suffered because of the loss of his left dominant arm, which handicaps him against Mihawk, who excels in both tremendous Haki and swordsmanship. Mihawk is a monstrous Haki user, potentially surpassing even Shanks. The testament to this is his permanently black supreme blade, Yoru. Achieving this feat defines the highest echelon of Haki power for a swordsman, something that Roger, Shanks, Rayleigh, Nusjuro, Garling, or any other current swordsman in their era failed to achieve.
Obviously, Garling is below Mihawk, but we can't say for sure if Garling is below Nusjuro. So, for now, we speculate that Garling might be equal to or stronger than Nusjuro, yet still below Mihawk. As long as Mihawk exists in the world of One Piece, all swordsmen are beneath him because he is the 'Sekai Saikyou no Kenshi,' which translates to the World's Strongest Swordsman in both name and reality. Zoro's goal and dream is to defeat him.
@@christopherpayawal4058 but nusjuro and garling isn’t considered part of the outside world are they? They are considered gods and up in the heavens. How do you know they dueled each other?
