Do I think it was a bad time to release her book? Sure, but do I think that means she’s an evil person for doing it and is therefore “mooching” off Britney? Not necessarily. I would need to read her memoir first before I can comfortably make that sort of claim. JL did say about a million times throughout the podcast interview when talking about the knife story that this was her perspective from when she was a child. Children can be unreliable narrators regarding the facts, but no reasonable person would ever expect a childhood memoir to be 100% objectively and factually true. I don’t expect that from JL’s book and I won’t be expecting that from Britney’s future tell-all book either. So I genuinely don’t understand why everyone is so sure JL is evil here.

I find Britney fans a bit intense regarding this whole thing. This is a super messy situation. Both Jamie Lynn and Britney had the same parents. It’s safe to say all the Spears children were traumatised in different ways, just that two of them are talking about it now. Both perspectives here can be subjectively true and the actual truth could be somewhere in the middle.
To expect JL to have somehow overcome all her own trauma and free Britney from their parents is asking a lot of any person, let alone the youngest child in the family. Doesn’t matter that shes a grown woman now; trauma will still make you feel like the child that you were years before. You can’t say Britney’s trauma is the only trauma that is valid and worth listening to. That’s really not helpful to anyone especially because none of us were there.
Do I think it was a bad time to release her book? Sure, but do I think that means she’s an evil person for doing it and is therefore “mooching” off Britney? Not necessarily. I would need to read her memoir first before I can comfortably make that sort of claim.
JL did say about a million times throughout the podcast interview when talking about the knife story that this was her perspective from when she was a child. Children can be unreliable narrators regarding the facts, but no reasonable person would ever expect a childhood memoir to be 100% objectively and factually true. I don’t expect that from JL’s book and I won’t be expecting that from Britney’s future tell-all book either.
So I genuinely don’t understand why everyone is so sure JL is evil here.
