I'm happy we got this bit without Jimmy. So many bits are made better with Jimmy, obviously. I almost think Greg was on medication at this time. He’s actually contributing and joking around. There’s another time around this time where he’s telling a story about his son and Jim says “your son is funny, man” and Ope responds “well he can’t be my son.” And he gets a good laugh. The only time he was cringe was when he felt the pressure to make too many jokes. When he was natural and not forced, he was perfectly fine. And Ant has never been funnier than in the context of that format. For people who think Opie just pushed buttons, he was actually extremely valuable for determining how much steam was left for a certain topic and when to move on to another one (there is only so much time for a show, after all. If you dont believe me, try to watch a movie that hasn't been properly edited. Sure First Blood is great, but would it be watchable if it was a 9 hour movie that included every detail of Rambo in the woods constructing arrows and booby traps and waiting around smoking cigarettes waiting for the cops to come after him?
