In this trip we started our first day journey from Kumta. We directly proceeded towards Jog Falls. Jog Falls, is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the country. The falls are formed by the Sharavati River, which plunges down from a height of approximately 830 feet (253 meters) in four distinct cascades known as Raja, Rani, Rover, and Rocket. Jog Falls is the second highest plunge waterfall in India. Next, we visited Bangara Kusuma Falls, located on the National Highway 206 through Honnavar Taluk and is about 41 km away. Passing amidst hilltops at Gair Goppa, this waterfall offers a spectacular view. Now it was time to take a stroll on the Samshi Hanging Bridge suspended over the Sharavathi river. The picturesque backdrop with undulating hills and dense forest is ideal for some moments of solitude. Post this we headed to our hotel for the night stay in Murudeshwar.
Next morning post breakfast and check out it was time to visit Murudeshwar Temple This magnificent shrine is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple boasts of the second highest statue of Lord Shiva in the world, and the sheer magnanimity of the statue will fill you with a sense of awe. This temple is built on the Kanduka Hill which is surrounded by the Arabian Sea on three sides The main temple's entrance, also called the 'gopura' stands at 123 feet and you can witness the breathtaking view of the Shiva statue from the top of the gopura. Legend says that the Atma Linga or the Soul of Shiva was the key to invincibility and immortality. Demon King Ravana decided upon acquiring it for which he devoutly prayed to Lord Shiva. Pleased by his devotion, Shiva granted him the Atma Linga, on the condition that it must not be placed on the ground before he reaches Lanka. However, Lord Ganesh and Lord Vishnu tricked him into putting the Linga on the ground, post which it got attached and was rendered immovable. Livid with anger, Ravana tried to destroy the Linga, but the force of his attack only managed to scatter the Linga to different places, which gave rise to many a sacred spot throughout the country, one of them being Murudeshwar. Next, we visited Apsarakonda Waterfall. Literally means ‘pond of angels’ named so in the belief that it is the place of relaxation for angels where they came to bathe and get solace. It is also called the ‘pond of Celestial Nymphs’. Descending from a height of 50 feet, the waterfall forms a natural pond beneath it. Tourists tend to enjoy an inevitable dip in this refreshing pond. There is a viewpoint nearby from where you can get nice view of the ocean. After this we went to Eco Beach. The beach is renowned for its serene and untouched beauty, with a long stretch of golden sand, swaying coconut palms, and crystal-clear waters of the Arabian Sea. The beach has a park next to it you can spend sometime here.
Now it was time to go for a boardwalk. A walk through this beautiful wooden walkway amidst the lush green Mangrove trees is calming. Proceed to visit Mirjan Fort. This 16-century fort boasts of cultural glory and distinguished history However, the origin of the fort has not one but many different versions According to the most popular version, the fort was constructed by Chennai Bhairavi Devi, the Queen of Geroppa also known as the ‘Queen of Pepper.’ The fort is a renowned architectural marvel with high ceilings and bastions. After this it was time to relax at Om Beach Om Beach takes the shape of an ‘Om’, a Hindu spiritual symbol the beach offers a breathtaking view of the sunset Lastly before saying goodbye to this amazing place, it was time to visit Mahabaleshwar Temple, one of the most visited temples in the town A 6 feet tall Shiva Linga here at the temple is known as the Atmalinga is worshipped here. Built using white granite, it is a classic example of the beauty of Dravidian architecture.

Thanks 🥰. This place lies in coastal and hilly area so chances of experiencing heavy rainfall during monsoon is high but in the month of August you can expect less rainfall. Yes it is safe to visit these places.
