Thank you for sharing a few ideas to add to my Luminar AI workflow. It’s definitely not the only software in my toolbox, but I enjoy the improvements and new features.
Love the video as usual! I actually have been using Luminar since Luminar 3. I liked your edits, probably the first one was my favourite! The local masking idea was also great. With the sun, you can place the spot outside of your photo as well if you wanted, it cuts down on the rays and intensity that way as well.
if you edit 100500 images in Luminar separately, at 10 minutes per image, 16,750 hours will do the trick. 😄 Better use Julia's tip at 6:05 to copy and paste the adjustments from the first image to all the other images. That way Luminar does all the work for you in, say, 6 hours and 3 burned-up lap tops. 😊 Just kidding, hope you are too. That is a big job-good luck with it!
Wish i can hug you the best advice i learnt esp of copying and pasting adjustments .Mwaaaaaaa kisses u saved me a lot of time .Was using affinity photo for frequency separation but easy on AI .Tk u so much u r that good🥰🥰🥰🥰👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I am pretty much new to photography and have been looking at and comparing all the free and paid photo editors. I was using Capture One Express but for some reason, it keeps rejecting the key that they provided which I have to log on to my account and reset each time. I've tried Darktable and Rawtherapee but both of those creates extra files for each RAW image that bugs me. I think it's just my own OCD that doesn't like the needed extra files when I scroll through with my file manager. I then started shifting my workflow to Snapseed since free PC options aren't all to my liking or lacking options/tools but it's only jpeg since it doesn't open RAF files but good thing I shoot jpeg+RAW. Watching your video has gotten me a step closer to getting Luminar AI since I don't want to go the subscription route. I'm still an amateur/hobbyist at best. Thanks for the awesome video and keep up the spectacular work you do! (Sorry it's so long, I tend to ramble when anything piques my interest!)
Wish sliders on my computer were that quick like on this presentation, bit a pain to wait couple of seconds after every adjustment. Strangely , that not the issue while using Lightroom, so for now this is my main editor. With better PC specs using Luminar AI would be possibly my first choice.

Going through your video on Luminar AI editing makes me feel so happy about how much easier it is compared to other options. For someone who knows a bit of editing, this seems handy.. Would definitely look forward to try it out one day
Evening sir, I did a plugins for luninar AI on Lightroom classic but I ha a BIG problem. When I transfer a pic from Lightroom classic to luninar AI and do some edits in luminar AI and press the APPLY button, it takes me back to Lightroom but my AI edits don't show up. What do you think I'm doing wrong. Thanks in advance.
thanks for the effort and the sharing. post processing takes many forms and the goal is create a nice image. in my opinion, there is no one way, no one tool, no right way. fortunately, there are many paths. using a tool like luminar can really speed up the workflow. i am an appreciative subscriber. thumbs up.
Just saw that erase option thank you. So next question would be, are there brushes that will allow you sharpen and lighten in specific areas. Just like the feeling of using brushes. Thx again
This is too good to be true 😱 Do you/would you incorporate this in your professional workflow (e.g. weddings) or more for personal shoots? Can you do a video going from Lightroom, using your presets and all, to Luminar?
Yes! I've been using it more and more while editing shoots recently, things like my portrait photoshoots that I post here on UA-cam and personal shoots as well. I colour my images in Lightroom since I already have presets that I like using, then you can right click > Edit in > Luminar AI, and there I use these skin and eye tools to help speed up my retouching like I did in image 1 and 2. In my first Luminar AI video I shared what it's like editing a wedding photo too if you wanted to see!
Hi @tudelak you absolutely can start in Lightroom. You can hand off the raw file from Lightroom Classic or a high-quality TIFF. Files are then handed back to Lightroom into the same folder. The Lightroom plugin is included at no extra cost with the application.
Can I send a batch of files to all have the same template applied without having to select the template for each file separately? e.g. pick Edit in Luminar AI, having selected 50 photos, then select a template. Then all 50 images have template applied and then saved with minimal input.
I'm not new to Luminar but I am new to Portrait editing in Luminar. I love your approach in this video and I think you have jump started my edits with the secret touches you included. IMHO, I enjoyed the first example the most but what is great about all 3 examples is the different way in which you edited them. I feel like I can compare my images to your 3 examples and determine my own approach now. At 5:58, the final before and after of example 1, did you consider the difference in tone of the edited face and unedited hands? In your years of touch-up experience is that an inconsequential issue, or in a paid situation vs this tutorial, would you have edited the hands too? Thank you for a great video.
Hey I only have one question, when you edited the blemishes on the first image, then copied and pasted to the next image, does it target the same place on the subject (her forehead) or are they placed in the same area on your screen and need to be moved again in to the correct positions? Oh and you should love your scars, don’t hide from them. Thanks Shaun
Our Skin AI tool detects blemishes and removes them automatically. if you use the Heal or Clone tools those are traditional and are dependent on where you click.
@@LuminarGlobal thanks very much. I have the program. But rarely use it as I’m always using Lightroom. But I’m gonna give it more of a go with portraits.
Can you please do a step by step tutorial on how to put my head on another persons body on Luminar 4 or Ai. People love to do this nowdays. I tried it on another app but the color of my face just doesn't match the color of the other persons hands or arm or neck. I just bought Luminar 4 and Ai and am lost on how to do this. On another app, sometimes it works but most of the time, it doesn't. I just can not get to match skin tone on my face to another persons hand and arm. Thank you very much.
I'm new to Luminar AI and your tutorial has been extremely helpful to me. However, mine doesn't have the "Moon" tab and I got it a couple of weeks ago. Odd.
Hi Julia! What cropping and export process are you using for Instagram? I use to set the crop at 5:4, it's no longer there and "custom" doesn't keep the value after I click "ok." My images are coming out too tall for Instagram now and `1080 x 1080 stretches and distorts the image. Any thoughts? Thanks for your time!
I actually don't crop my images for Insta at all. I always export the highres original 2:3 photo. Then I just crop it in the app while uploading. I do this so I only have one copy of the photo on my phone that I can use for Insta post, insta story, 16:9 on Tiktok, etc!
its kinda off expensive but worth the money having something that lets me do a lot fast takes the pain out of shooting with bad lighting definetly saved alot of my shots. and I want to say the dash board is intimaditing but its not to my surprise playing with this for 2 days then watching this tutorial leaves me clearly understanding how to do everything she said I never thought in my life I can get rid of models pimples etc so fast since I never used photo shop before
Great video. I was disappointed with Luminar 4 and was hopeful Ai would be better. After lots of complaining to Luminar we finally got a free trial and honestly I'm still not impressed. my biggest complaint is it's so slow compared to lightroom. Also I get better results from free phone apps like airbrush.
So Raymond... Lightroom makes basic tone and contrast adjustments... Luminar is doing many advanced edits with complex masks and retouches. It is comparable to sending an image to Photoshop. We’re generally faster than Photoshop. You also have to remember that the export time is paid when you render a plugin or export from Lightroom. Look at the total time saved and keep in mind that you can apply more than 350 adjustments in Luminar... 300 of which don’t exist in Lightroom at all.
@@woollxd not to mention they have already abandoned AI and moved on to something else which is their normal thing it seems. LR and PS are still more useful and in my opinion more powerful than anything luminar can offer. If you want gimmick edits like cat eyes then I'd recommend some free phone apps. I run BlueStacks on my windows laptop so I can use my favorite Android apps which are mostly free rather than spending any more money on luminar products.
I bought this program and it didn’t work well with my CR3 Raw files. It would max out my cpu and become unusable. I have a high end custom built pc and it still couldn’t handle it. Wish they would add gpu acceleration. Otherwise lovely program if it would work better. Any suggestions? Does it work well as a plug-in for Lightroom?
Same exact issue with CR3 files. I have a very fast PC I use for gaming and photo editing and Luminar is really slow to take. Lots of video cuts/editing in this video when she makes the changes. LOVE Julia. No hate here. Just want to be honest about the software. RTX3090 with a massive amount of ram and soooo slow.
Hi, please make sure you keep Luminar up to date. We’ve released many performance updates. WE also suggest 16 ZGB of RAM for the best experience. Our support team can help you out or you can check out the recommended specs on site.
this is my biggest gripe which is why i havent fully commited to it. Tried the free trial and i love how it makes your workflow simple and fairly quick BUT it is REALLY slow when it comes to exporting images. Exporting 1 image alone, takes a lot of time -.- Imagine exporting multiple photos.
Anyone else surprised Julia, the queen of 35mm lenses, did not drop a video on the new Sigma 35mm f1.4 for E and L mount? 🤔 Maybe no Sigma Australia hook up yet?
kinda disappointed by that new 35mm f1.4 sigma art, its still chunky and not as slim as the sony 35 f1.4 gm, but youre right still waiting on a Julia vid for it!
Do you prefer this over Lightroom? This seems too automatic and makes everything about photography look "too easy" and that everyone can do it :/ what do you think about this?
I actually like using them both together, I've been using my colours in Lightroom and then using Luminar AI to help with skin retouching for some shoots to speed up my workflow and not spend as much time in front of the computer 😅 it's been my aim this year to cut down on my sitting time. I personally don't mind that a program like this makes editing more accessible to people, there's a lot more to offer as a photographer than just the editing - it's a process most of your clients will never see anyway, so if you get good results and you can save time - then I see it as a why not :)
You can easily hand off raw files from Lightroom if you want directly to Luminar. We also see the same DNG Camera Profiles that Lightroom offers and can support LUTs and other options. Or you can use as as a plugin to solve specific problems. We know better than to force change... rather we add solutions.
Considering what was released today, I'm not seeing much new 35mm lens action Lol Interesting to see Luminar AI in action though. I have Luminar 4 and I don't mind it for light stuff, or for when I can't be bothered. haha
I'll try to get my hands on that Sigma 35 and make a video about it soon :D looks like a really nice lens! And yeah I like using this when I want to speed up my workflow sometimes for shoots
Love your channel but Luminar AI is very slow and clunky. I have a very fast and updated PC built in 2020 and was excited to try Luminar. Its super slow. There's no way it worked as fast as you're working here. Plenty of issues on both Mac and PC. Its well documented on the web. Love the features but will continue in LR and PS until they fix their issues.
It is recommended to enable the automatic subtitle generation function of youtube, so that we can read the subtitles for those who have poor English listening.
Canceled my PR subs because I can use davinci resolve and doingg better job, now luminar is the next thing that gonna to replace lightroom, hopefully something else can replace photoshop someday, so I can get rid of the whole greedy packagge from adobe. Yes I can afford them, but the price is not really friendly to most users, and cancel my PR subs cost me $130 USD for some kind of cancel fee, I subs for like hundreds of online stuffs like netfliex, world of warcraft, squre space etc, PR is the ONLY ONE that force you to sign contract with them and for you to pay a very high fine if you dare to unsubscrib. which make me 100% sure that I need to stay away from adobe if there is any chance. And I will help anyone around me to stay away from them whenever I found better replacement APPs. great job Luminar!
Awesome, but still not for me. I hate how programs like this will produce haze. The first image you were able to retain detail without the distracting haze but it's not consistent. So, for people who are trying to use this as a way to get around having to actually DB in PS to get results be warned...It's easy to spot. But if you're using it like Julia is who knows how much is too much then by all means use the program to speed up your workflow.
Hi SP. If you don’t want haze... check out two great tools we have Structure AI (which is like Clarity but with intelligent masks and no skin damage or Halos) and our Details tool. Super Contrast is also amazing here.
I have Luminar AI, and it covers all my requests in photo editing. And there is no subscription, good for me because I'm not ready to pay for the software every month. If you do not need sky replacement or whatever - so don't use it :)
Hi Mike... easy to bash something you haven’t tried. But our Skin and Portrait tools are the best in the business. We trained the AI working with dozens of top retouchers. We use incredibly amounts of diversity and skin types too. We have a ton of natural adjustments and lots of things in place to prevent overdoing it. But the obligation for “natural” is in the hands of the photographer. Try the tool out and check out some of the training we have. TRUST me... we like natural looking images.
I use Lumina Ai for family photos, and I like to keep things natural. I achieve far better results than the software I was using before (faststone image viewer) and it's easy and fun to use.
I personally think your cropping still includes too much negative space. But great job overall. Just got the program so will be watching more of your vids.
Looks like luminar sponsored bunch of UA-camrs , unfortunately luminar has a lot of issues and they are just ignoring users and continue spending money on ads

I'll try to get my hands on that Sigma 35 and make a video about it soon :D looks like a really nice lens! And yeah I like using this when I want to speed up my workflow sometimes for shoots
I love u blondie
If luninar goes mobile, I am dumping Lightroom
Competition is coming for Adobe 🤣
We like to say we make Adobe better... They have great tools and solutions... we focus on addressing things they don't
you forgot the hands
Luminar really have to give a shit ton of money to all the youtubers to get that much advertising from all sides. So many fake effects. It's a shame.
Rip Lightroom
I personally think your cropping still includes too much negative space. But great job overall. Just got the program so will be watching more of your vids.
No need for the background beat
I LOVED my time in Poland, I didn't want to come home.
Yeah Poland is amazing! Dan’s family lives there so we’ve been there a few times now, I love it every time 😄
Looks like luminar sponsored bunch of UA-camrs , unfortunately luminar has a lot of issues and they are just ignoring users and continue spending money on ads
Hi Yener. Could you drop a message at urgent@skylum.com? We’d love to learn more about this and check what we can do to improve your Luminar AI experience.
sorry the face lacks naturalness, the face looks like a plastic face, i'm afraid of that. Alain
Literally the most comforting voice. Could listen to Julia talk about anything.
