Thank you for the review. I normally do not write a comment but I had to say this is what a review should be, straight forward following actual significant use. The fact you have indicated this review is after 2 years of use tells me I can trust it.

Thanks for the great review, Schick. I bought my CharBroil electric smoker based on your recommendation and I'm really loving it. My favorite thing so far is smoked butterfly chicken breasts stuffed with garlic cloves. I make a weeks worth for my keto/reverse diabetes/virta diet. They are worth the price of the smoker. And my rump roast beef jerky is the best I've ever had. Thanks again!

Got a masterbuilt electric smoker for Father’s Day but returned it after two smokes. It’s was the type with a dial temp control, not digital. Had to constantly adjust the dial and other reasons. I will be getting this one based on this video and review. Thanks so much and great job!

All the reviews on UA-cam are for the Masterbuilt... yes, this is the best, everyone said.... buy this. So I did -- and guess what. Total garbage! Worst decision ever. Every person I know that bought a masterbuilt has been angry and frustrated, but the 2 people I know who bought Char Broil's - are happy. So, before I get a new smoker, I am being super careful, so thank you for this.

I just bought one of these from Menards a few days ago. I've already smoked 2 lbs. of jerky, and a rack of ribs tonight. Best jerky and "fall-off-the-bone" ribs that I've ever had! I bought this unit for the exact 2 reasons you did. I've never had or used a smoker before and I'm excited to see what else I can create with this thing. I'm going to try smoking burgers tomorrow.

My husband gave me one of these for my birthday, today, and I can't wait to fire it up! We have a wood-fired smoker that he built, and while it produces outstanding smoked food, it's pretty labor-intensive, and requires constant monitoring to try to maintain a consistent temperature. Also, it's uphill from the house! Thank you for this thorough review - I'll let ya know how the maiden voyage goes!

I own one, but I don’t have the window, same smoker tho! And I used it so much some of the connections fried at the point of connection to the heating element, I love it because it was a gift from my wife, so I ordered replacement parts and I’m rebuilding it (Like FRANKENSTEIN) and I will use it until it burns out again, then I will use it as a “cold smoker “ for smoking boiled eggs and cheese.

I absolutely agree with everything you said about this smoker. I really love it! One thing I notice with mine is the temperature tends to run about 20-30 degrees above what it is set at, so 225 is more like 250. Easy problem to solve with an external wireless thermometer to keep track of things. Other than that, this smoker is a great deal, also got mine at Menards. Great video, thank you for sharing!

Glad you like yours because I just set mine up today and have some pork chops smoking in it.
I had a Masterbuilt smoker that gave out in less than 5 years- the coil had a burn through and the display was starting to fritz out and miss parts of the numbers and eventually bit stopped working even after I replaced the heating element.
Even though this is the first time I'm using this smoker I noticed one thing. The way the grates sit in the smoker you can't pull them out even halfway and expect them to stay there especially if there's any weight on the grate. Even though the back edge of the grate curves up to hook against the little nub that holds the shelf in you can easily push past those nubs and I may think about adding some kind of a stud to it to allow the shelves some more support when they're slid out.
Another thing that's kind of annoying is how the display flashes between the remaining time and the temperature that the smoker is SET to, NOT the current temperature of the smoker.
The lower right corner of the remote however does show the current temperature, but it does force you to use the remote instead of purely using the control panel.

I just got mine yesterday from Amazon for about the same price. I was not going to buy another Masterbuilt electric smoker seeing how the master built warranty is only 90 days, and charbroil gives you a 1-year warranty.

The way you turn on the 40 minute preheat function is to use the up and down arrows to go outside of the temperature range which is over 275 or below 100°. If you merely set the temperature and don't have it showing "PH" then it will go into whatever temperature you set it to

Is there a model number? The best accolade anyone can give a product is, "Imma buy a second one just in case it breaks one day". Looks like it got beat to hell and still keeps tickin. Rare find.

@@schickhappens299 lol, well as delightfully useless of a reply as that was ( I actually looked through all the comments and didn't see it) I went ahead a looked up what I believe is this smoker from Menards:
      Model Number: 17202004-DI

Could you use this almost like a dehydrator?

i dont think this smoker heats up the wood container enough to really generate alot of smoke, also, you cannot actually see what the current temperature is, once you've set the temp..its heats up but what is the temperature. I have a remote, but it doesnt seem conencted to it at all. also, replace the heating coil after two years. I would not buy again.
