    I cannot believe that people are so callous so as to leave comments like that,
    when the title includes the information that it was wrong thing to do.
    A failed experiment also leads to a learning experience.. Thank you
    Austin for this important information

    You don't usually find snap on Case backs on diving-style watches, except obviously on very inexpensive Chinese ones. Cheap tools to remove that style of back are easy to find on Amazon, etc. I ended up also buying a watch press to press that type of case back onto watches, because sometimes they're nearly impossible without the press.

  • @BarnOwl61
    @BarnOwl61 6 років тому +6

    It is very honest of you to admit and even advertise your failure like this. I must admit, I've tried regulating a Sewor with the same standard Chinese watch movement. I had no succes either. I do have the proper tools to open and close the pop caseback, but the movement just did not react to the micro adjustment at all.
    My watch is still working, it looks good, but the accuracy is way off. I have two Tevise watches and they've done a little better, but not great. I just accepted this fact and moved on.

    • @watchsymposium
      @watchsymposium  6 років тому +1

      Thanks - appreciate that! That's interesting to note that you watches didn't react much. I'll probably try another Tevise sometime in the future - maybe the blue dialed one - and will keep that in mind.

      In my opinion you'd be much happier with an old Russian Raketa or Poljot watch, cheap, tough and you can actually regulate them but LOOK UP HOW TO DO THIS before trying to!

    You adjust the regulator, the one with the index pins either side of the hair spring. Not the beat error control lever !!. Now you need a Timegrapher to set the beat error. Best either learn or leave watches alone.

    i love that you're posting on the tevise. these are cheap but attractive and interesting. imo people getting into watches should be buying these and playing with them instead of obsessing over expensive watches. fwiw i'd love to know if any non-automatic tevise movements fit in the t801a, or if any parts from the cheap quartz version interchange (eg the date dial). but jesus, man ... focus
    btw, the correct amount to move a lever (when you find the right one) is the smallest amount possible

    I absolutely love my t801 even though it is an absolute piece of garbage. Put a ceramic bezel insert on it looks amazing. The one thing I am majorly disappointed in this wrist watch is the self Winder absolutely does nothing. It was put on as an afterthought I'm sure. Sweet little watches though. Also extremely hard to wind, and yes it does have to be wound due to the fact that the self Winder does not work LOL. Get lots of comments on it though

    Quick advice for opening - you can use the same screwdriver, not pushing it with hand, but with small hit with a hammer at the end of the screwdriver, so that it gets rapid kick. This way you can open very stuck cases. Also you can sharpen your screwdriver using fine sand paper - the result is fantastic.

    With all due respect to you, you moved the wrong one, LOL. You adjusted the beat error lever. instead of a tic, tic, tic it is now tic, tac, tic, tac. Get a cheap time grapher off of Aliexpress if you look you can find one for $50 dollars with contact microphone and readjust the beat frequency to what it should be, DON'T ever touch the big lever unless you have a time grapher but that being said once you do set the beat frequency properly, getting it fairly accurate to about plus or minus 15 seconds a day should be easy, it's about the best these Chinese watches can do and you will see that the graph will be still pretty bad even when properly running. These things are about as precise as trying to to calligraphy with a white board marker pen.

    when i regulate a watch i let it go for 4 hours and multiply. i think you moved it quite a bit and it is really going to speed up, maybe too much. that watch may be different, we shall see. i have been bloody before also. lol. cant wait to hear how this turns out.

    • @watchsymposium
      @watchsymposium  7 років тому +5

      You are absolutely right. ...Looks like I'm going to have to confess...OK, here it is: I started recording, opened up the case, gave it a blood sacrifice, regulated it, and closed the case. Watching the video of my handiwork, I realized I had messed up; I had made it SLOWER! (>

    • @ScottAReid
      @ScottAReid 7 років тому

      i watched the direction you went and thought about it, but thought you must know what you are doing. that always confuses me also. but, in my experience, moving that level a hair makes a difference. i would do it, leave the case partially on to protect the movement, just let it lay there, wait 4 hours or some increment of 24 and multiply. or you could be patient and wait 24 hours and adjust. YOUR OPINION, new grey market black sub (no date, ceramic) OR GMT 2 black also grey market. i have narrowed to that. i may go SUB. my 1st rolex. i really want gmt batman, but they selling for too much, 11k grey market new.

    • @watchsymposium
      @watchsymposium  7 років тому

      I'd go for the GMT. It's just my opinion, but that's what I'd go with and here's why; you have those 2 extra functions on the GMT. You don't always need the date, but then you do, it's nice to look down and have it. If you have the Sub and you need the date, will you regret it? There are a several reasons...I think I'll make a vid on it. But short answer, I'd go GMT. By the way, is it a ceramic or aluminum bezeled GMT that you are talking about?

    • @ScottAReid
      @ScottAReid 7 років тому

      both a NEW and grey market, so Ceramic Bezel. you dont save much going used over grey market, esp when you factor in a servicing if a piece needs it. also, like you said, no polishing issues, etc etc. I like the sub you have, NO DATE. i was really thinking of getting the black sub no date. i really like the GMT batman, but that is 11k, even grey market.

    You did not adjust the timing you moved the beat regulator arm instead "notice how both arms moved in sequence". On most mechanical watches the arm that regulates the time will have those 2 dots on it and you will only see one part move. It's good though to fool around and learn from a Chinese watch like this so you will know for next time. Good luck with the timing

    • @hocusmcpocus8876
      @hocusmcpocus8876 4 роки тому +1

      What’s 🤣 is that a $20 Automatic watch gets so much attention online like so many other homage watches. The reality is a person who owned the watches in the $1000s wouldn’t be watching these videos to get their lives validated for the fact that they do own those watches. But someone who does watch these videos and ridicules and mocks the obvious is either too late in discovering that the high end product won’t bring them validation in life or is hurting from paying instalments in a payment plan. At the end of the day all watches will tell you its the end of the day, give or take a few seconds or even a minute or two. Who cares? If you did then a High Accuracy Quartz is the watch you need, not a high end my nuts fire blanks and sometimes the need hand winding or even viagra for the long hand (or shorthand for some) to work’ type of watch. If you want a bit of nice for a fraction of the price and not feel hurt then these cheap Automatics are not a bad choice. If you can afford those watches in $1000s, $10000.....$1millions+.... you will never read this message.

    You have been reported 17 times today for uploading misleading content to UA-cam. Delete this video and upload a new CORRECT one, or your channel will get shut down eventually. You should take this seriously man

      Nobody is being mislead if they read the description. I also rectified the mistake in the title. That's more than adequate.

      Austin Daniels newsflash, most people don read the description. You have been warned and told what you have to do, the rest is up to you. Keep in mind that you are free to do what you want but you are not free of any consequences that might accompany you actions.
      As I see it has gone up to 25 reports so far

      Austin Daniels the least you could do is changing the title to: How to NOT regulate a automatic watch!”
      Much better isn’t it? Or is that waaaaay to difficult to do as well?
