- In Srishti kram you invoke the Devi by way of expansion. You will start on the first night and will go for fifteen nights and sixteenth is the cusp when it ends. Each night you invoke one Devi. And, on the sixteenth you invoke the The Devi: Mother Goddess. Her appearance is momentary. Only an extraordinary practitioner can hold the form of Devi for any more than a moment because she is in the cusp of that date. There is no sixteenth date as such. It only comes for a very short period of time. For a sanyasi, for a renunciate, they are not supposed to fulfill their desires. They are not supposed to keep their desires in their heart and go after them like a householder would. So, they go after what’s called Sanghar kram. Sanghar is destruction, the sequence of destruction. Householders would go for a sequence of creation.
In sequence of destruction the process is reversed. And then there is Stithi kram. Stithi karma is to sustain. Devi alone assumes the form of Brahma and creates as Brahma. She assumes the form of Vishnu and sustains. She assumes the form of Shiva and destroys.

He is very correct in that before moving on to another practice one must master their current practice. My Guruji says that any one mantra can take us all the way and provide the benefits of all. That being said each particular mantra is a specific arrangement of syllables so it works with energy in a specific way. Thus we have the different Mahavidyas, Sodashi, panchadashi, Bala, Mahaganapati, etc. Usually one is initiated into mantras in a specific order but a guru may choose a particular mantra for you to work with. Complete it to the fullest extent of your ability. This may not lead to complete self realization. There is a difference between siddhi and self-realization. All things are one yet all things appear and behave in specific unique ways. By doing each sadhana we are integrating another aspect of our whole being into ourselves. Each mantra becomes a tool to help others. It allows us to spend less time in ritual and more time engaged in life because after a certain point nyasas, and yantras, become unnecessary, the Shakti has become one with you, simply mentally chanting the mantra is enough to access that aspect specifically. So one one level if one devoted entire spiritual life to a single mantra it can take us to self-realization this is true but we would miss out on other aspects which we may need for the benefit of others. As a householder one needs happiness in the home, success in worldly affairs. Material blessings as well as spiritual blessings. There is nothing wrong with attaining those along the way towards self-realization. Ultimately all desires will dissolve on their own if one is sincere in their sadhana and has genuine devotion. Material blessings will indeed come but you may not care if they do anymore at that point. It is all for the benefit of helping those we love and ultimately all beings. All deities are brahman they all are simply different doors to which we access the one Consciousness that both pervades everything and exists beyond everything.
