Stephen, have been watching your journey and you came across as a great guy and as such looked forward to each new vlog. Pilgrim snobs, even said jokingly, shows there is an element of truth to the thinking of those who have had the opportunity to walk more of the Camino. Not everyone has the time or the ability to do more. There are those who wish to do it, but can't - not even the last 100kms. Stay humble. Camino de Santiago 2018 Vlog - Day 25 Tip 4 - "It’s your Camino, but it doesn’t belong to you. Their Camino is part of your Camino. You can’t make it self-centric or ego trip." If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter in life, even jokingly and even along the Camino. Just sayin'....
Dave Brady What you say is true but so is the feeling that "its our camino". The point im making is that its a contridiction. You will feel both. I make a joke from it but i treat every single person I meet the same whether they started 100km away or 800km. I met several ppl who started in the French Alps haha so I know theres people who have done bigger distances than me. I met one man who has walked this Camino 19 times. Believe me, I would never disrespect anyone who has taken even one step along the way. I make jokes out of all the things that come up... even the ones that go against the tips or the idea of being a 'perfect pilgrim'. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for the comment and for tuning in. S
Dave Brady And also, just to say, incase it came across as disrespectful, several of my Camino family (as I call them) started at later stages and their journey is no less than mine. S
Good man. Factors such as financial/time constraints etc mean some can only do the last 100km's. For them, just as anyone on the route It's a personal journey - for religious reasons, spiritual reasons or otherwise - one without comparison, one not measured by distance.
Dave Brady of course. I can see myself repeating stages 100km at a time if I have just 1 week free etc etc. Amazing journey. And one week here feels like a year! Many towns I would have liked to have spent more time in too!
Agree with Dave. I'm a fan of Stephen because he looks like my son Patrick and has a wry sense of the world. I'm 70 years old and busted up from an active life (marathons, rock climbing, bike accidents take their toll). I just don't have a 400 mile hike left in me. In October my wife and I will jump on at Sarria and try our best. People don't acknowledge it but everyone's entire life is a pilgrimage. So Stephen aspire to be non judgmental. Your Pilgrimage isn't over until you die.
