This song is a nightmare to sing not only from a notes perspective but also breathing technique. Sing it yourself and see. I respect her for doing it live. It would be easy to want to do this one pre-recorded.
She's just trying too hard to sing here, and her breathing is atrocious, this song isn't any harder to sing than any of her other ballads. She can do the softer higher pitched stuff but she tends to fallback on this kind of sound for some reason. I also don't get the way she kept singing the "er" sounds during this era "do you want to go highERRR" it just sounded really weird.

And also, that was the era of early Celine Dions and Mariah Careys and such. Must have been hard for her. She had to find a specially good emotion to her singing. Which is really the most important thing.
She also didn’t step on the scene as a singer. She did it for money and ended up loving it. Her voice is so unique that it stands out. It has imperfections you won’t find in someone like Beyoncé or lady Gaga.. kinda reminds me of JLo but better and more groundbreaking because JLo stepped on the scene as a dancer as well.

She's challenged with technique singing this and limiting herself not to use that much head voice when she shouldn't be. The struggle with her chest voice is painful to hear as she goes deeper and deeper with her riffs.

@@AlexK-fx1hq Madame X was a hot mess, what was meant to be a more personal tour without gimmicks became just a non-cohesive tour in smaller venues. basically it was a lazy tour with smaller venus vs a more intimate less fuzz tour (what it should have been)
She has always struggled while singing this song live. I think it's a result of the vocal lessons. She expanded her range and had to face more difficult songs. It worked initially (Ray of Light and Little Star at Oprah or Frozen live) but then as the Ray of Light era progressed she started to have issues and had quite a few number of fails in several shows which is a pity. She is certainly nervous AF, maybe terrorized by the idea of making mistakes. When I watch the Blond Ambition Tour or the Girlie Show Tour I see someone that is very confident and sure, vocally speaking as well.
You are so right, i always wondered why she DIDN'T include "The Power of Goodbye" on the Drowned World Tour if it was the biggest song of the album after Frozen and Ray of Light, but now i see. Madonna is a very proud and perfectionist woman (I love her), but i do think that now we i have the answer of my question of so many years regarding this. When Madonna recorded this song, her voice still had that "training" that she had developed for Evita, but she lost it as the months went by and this song is the most demanding of her in that aspect.
