Thanks for the weigh in video guys and well done on coming in under. We are just looking at a very similar van and I've been thinking about weights a bit. Can I ask when you got weighed did you load up with roughly equivalent weights for food and cloths as well? and what size gas bottles are you carrying?
Thanks 😊 so glad you liked the video. We had it all full as thou we were ready to set off. We had 10lt of diesel for the heater & 9kg & 4.5kg gas bottles in the front boot. Beer in fridge as well 😊
Awesome cheers, I was getting a bit worried about how much stuff we could actually fit into one of these vans without going over weight. Think we'll be right tho looking at your weights, so many vids of people blowing their weight limits but I guess they are just taking way to much gear.
Great video and perfect timing. Just bought ourselves a new Southern Cross 15_18 hybrid here in WA, which is very very similar to your austrak 15 that ( we pick it up in 3 weeks ) : Like yours it has a ATM of 3000 kg and we tow with a 3.2 litre Mazda BT50 (2018) It’s just me the wife and yes we have a border collie . ( sound familiar)😅 So your weights were of great interest to me . 1 Question : on your BT50 did you require any mods to the rear end to handle the heavy tow ball weight ( eg mod springs or air bags or WDH Thanks Happy travels
So glad you liked the vid ❤️ The bt50 is stock standard & we have 116 kg left to put in the car. We are going to do a gvm upgrade to 3.5 ton & that will then give us another 300kg.
@@smalldrivebigadventure with your VM upgrade adding 300 kg to your vehicle Does it though .. Does it change your Grosd Combined Combination Mass weight allowance. I heard that a gvm upgrade in WA any way will up grade the mass for the vehicle when not towing BUT will not change your allowable Gross Vehicle Combination Weights …. May be different in Vic Cheers
@johngrant7979 . Technically with our gvm upgrade we are still only allowed 6000kg on our gcm , at the moment we are 5678kg, which leaves us 322kg to play with, bit we want to be able to put extra in the car, hence the gvm upgrade on the ute
We were also surprised by the tow ball weight , we don't believe 140kg is correct from austrack, however , to be at 10% ball weight (as recommended) on a 3 tonne caravan we we need to be at 300kg ball weight and currently we are 290kg. Thank you for your question.

@@smalldrivebigadventure 👍 understand… good thinking 👍
Can I ask what tow capacity was your car .. was it 3 tonne?
The car has standard 3.5 ton tow capacity. But keep in mind our GCM is a total of 6 ton. Thanks for watching our vid!!
229kg towball weight, but Austrak are stating 140kg on their website. Filling tanks and gas bottles must put a lot of extra weight on the front.
