Ive only just seen your video. I was born & brought up there & recognise so many things ,too many to list egFenham baths / library/ It was before the A1..I think Westgate College used to be Rutherford School ?? In my time Stagecoach didnt exist ,preferred yellow bus of choice was the 12 .I was married in Holy Cross Church ,to the left ,off Two Ball Lonnen .Thanks for posting this ,it was a trip downemory lane - so nice yo hear a Geordie accent,i still have 1 even though ive been away 45 years
First off I shall say Happy Christmas and Merry New Year to you and your family. Oh wow you actually did it. I got you a little bit lost too (and Googlemaps for dead end streets) LOL I thought it would be a bit out of the way from your usual meanderings. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. Better than Googlemaps street view! :) .. and I had a bit of a giggle when you said He... LOL I'm a she. When we were over in Newcastle in 2012 our cousin managed to take us to where our mom's childhood house once stood, but we never got round to where dad had lived. Just hearing all about the places and areas mom and dad used to work at or go to before they moved to Canada always made me want to see more of Newcastle. Ok I'll say it.... the timing is interesting for this. You being in that area and deciding to drive down that road on Dec 22. It'll be the 9th anniversary of my dad's passing Dec 25 and on Jan 1st it'll be 6th anniversary of mom's passing, so I always think of them often at this time of year. This simple video really means something more to me than just a car ride down a road. It's a little remembrance of my parents and where they came from.
+T.L. Drayton Thank you for the lovely comment, it was a pleasure doing this for you. It's nice to be able to do something that can bring comfort to people. I apologise for assuming you're a he :) I'm glad you saw the funny side. Take care and I wish you and you're family a great Christmas and a happy 2018 :)
Hi , I live locally to fenham , in fact I lived in on cedar road in fenham for around 30 years , If you know the door number of the house your dad lived at I don't mind popping up and taking a few photos if you like , also a video of the street etc ?
Hehehe, I knew as soon as you turned off that you'd hit a dead end. I live near Lonnen Ave and you would have been better turning off the West Road onto Wingrove Road, then left onto Hadrian Road. That would have taken you directly to Lonnen Ave straight ahead. Good on you though and nice vid. :D
Great idea, interesting video! I'm also from the Fenham area, 88 Fenham Hall Drive but we left for Western Australia in 1986 and I've never been back. So if your ever in the area again it would be good to see. Coincidentally my dad did some video around Fenham in the 80s and also filmed a bit on Lonnen Ave. I will also repy to T.L. Draytons comment below and include a link to the video if that's OK but it might default to your spam folder due to the URL. Thanks, have subscribed.

Here is a video my father took in the 1980s, which also included a little footage on Lonnen Ave. ua-cam.com/video/OW6zNLlMSpU/v-deo.html
