Ok, apart from the unfortunate technical issues with the sound, I really loved this early Shifter! Way to go man, you need to do lots more of this. Inspirational! 👍 And Doug is the dude! ✌️ I often say that a bike trailer will turn any bike into a cargo bike and a real world practical alternative to a car (and it will!) but I would certainly be under pressure with that sofa albeit minus cushions but plus one whole girl! I have two trailers and one, a Duramaxx Mountee just might if I let down the front and back supports but definitely not including the girl. A full sized lawnmower, no problems.
@@youvebeenmilked2893 Looks to me like a bakfiets, with a platform rather than a bucket up front. Google for "cargo bike" and you'll see several different kinds. For building materials, you might prefer a "longtail" cargo bike. For example, the "Big Dummy" model, from Surly.
There's a bike trailer that has an extension arm that is long enough to carry a canoe, up to 6 meters. The trailer can carry up to 90 Kg. I don't know they weight of a 3.5m log though. Maybe it's heavier than that. It's called Y-Frame by Carry Freedom. I use it with (or without) a big plastic crate. I carried small furnitures, small branches, Christmas presents and food, trash to the recycling center... It's pretty expensive though. But it can replace a car in many situations. And it doesn't take much space one disassembled, which is very easy. To carry up to 90Kg, I think you need an electric bike or your gonna be struggling I guess.
@@Guigui_82 I can carry or have carried over 70kg in a trailer that weighs 13kg on an ordinary hybrid pedal power only bike with only moderate to slight hills for 6.5km. Definitely down in the low gears on the inclines. 💦 I could take heavier but that's just in weight. I'd need a much longer trailer for the lumber or probably the canoe too. But I have a car and a trailer for it so it's moot for practical reasons. But definitely with an e-bike, an extended bike trailer that could carry 200kg+ would be very feasible! I'm definitely going to get an e-bike and I would seriously be up for getting a bigger trailer. There are one's like Carla Cargo too but horrendously expensive even for non electric powered one's! Waaayyy too much except for a business.

Those Dutch cargo bikes are cool.
they are real nice, I ctc the company but they don't sell in the US.
Any tips for transporting large items on a normal bike? I am planning to move an oversized toaster oven
Thumbs up. Great video. Great ideas. Thank you. 👍
That was pretty cool
Would love to see a video on how he made that
The bike?
It's not a custom job. It's commercially available. :)
@@GMPax what’s it called? Seems so useful. I currently am trying to find a solution to move building materials using my 700c drop bar road bike.

What kind of cargo bike is that?
Any suggestions for 3.5 m lumber???
over the handle bar and the saddle and walk next to it.
