im partially sighted, and it was suggested that i get a symbol cane so people around me are aware of my eyesight. but im just worried that some folk wont care or know what it means, ive been hit by a car a few times, nothing serious but bumped a few times, one of the scariest experiences was when i did get bumped by a car the driver was furious at me name calling and everything, i tried explaining that im partially sighted but he didnt believe me because "if i was really partially sighted i wouldnt be out walking around", definitely put me off outdoors for a while after that. so i might pick one one.
Unfortunately, I have found in my area, m o st. people are ignorant about white canes. Period. I was at my mailbox the other day, and this one lady never slows down, but there is a gentleman that always puts on his breaks, moves over, and puts lots of space between us.
Tempted to get one just because I'm getting bored of people at work questioning why I'm seemingly not paying attention. Doesn't matter how many meetings I explain "I can't see what's being presented, and I can't read this tiny laptop screen" it still happens every bloody time.

I use a long cane.

I use a mixture of the symbol cand and the long cane
Hi Amber, thanks for your comment. Yes, using a mixture of canes offers flexibility in different situations 👍
👍👍
Your symbol cane looks a lot shorter than mine also my ID cane has a pink tip!
I actually have a symbol cane myself
I don’t think the “symbol cane” is a very good idea. Tell people if you need help.
