- Boeing boss Dave Calhoun will leave at the end of this year amid a deepening crisis over the firm's safety record.
Boeing also said that the head of its commercial airlines division will retire immediately while its chairman will not stand for re-election.
The firm is under pressure after an unused door blew out of a Boeing 737 Max in January shortly after take-off.
No-one was injured but the firm's safety and quality control standards came under renewed scrutiny.

They were going to show him the door, but it had dropped off mid-flight.
Hahaha. Sharp one mate 😂
He couldn't handle the pressure, because the cabin was depressurised.
Lol😅
damn 😂
...that is witty
What about the Whistle blower who "DIED" .. who is responsible for that ?
Yep, I’m no conspiracy theory guy… But that guy was silenced
@@coyotelong4349 agree.
@@coyotelong4349well you should be; too many people are asleep. They're not conspiracies..they're the truth
He was suicided
@@TheMingez2
Easy now, buddy… I may believe that Boeing had something to do with this guy’s death (unless there’s no evidence), but that doesn’t mean I believe the other wacky stuff a lot of you believe these days about vaccines, microchips, Jewish space lasers, etc 😅
Greed is the cancer of this company's downfall.
I think you meant "country".
Greed? I thought it was diversity?
No, forced diversity hiring is.
I thought it was inclusion. @@curiositycloset2359
Sure seems so, yep.
The Board needs to go as well they oversee this company.
Nobody is really going anywhere. The guy mentioned he is just retiring due to his age...
Does accountability stop with resignation?
They murdered the whistle blower
He should be in prison.
sure buddy
Absolutely....no one committed suicide in the parking lot...
You honestly believe the CEO was behind his death? I Don't
Ya'll keep saying that but never present actual evidence of it. People can not be prosecuted just because you suspect them
Where's the criminal charges?
😂 you are funny
He is charged with failing in leadership of the company. As punishment he will receive a golden parachute of a couple million $.
IDK, go upstairs and ask your grandma.
😆What rock did you just crawl out from under? "Charges? 🤣🤣
go ahead and find the evidence that can tie him to a crime 😢
BBC asking “will this please shareholders” instead of asking “will this please customers” . Are they still this clueless?
They're not clueless. They just don't care.
They know very well whose opinions actually matter for Boeing.
They don't fly Boeing products, they don't care.
Yes, yes, they are.
BBC is a cesspool. Spreading unverified lies against Israel all the time. Like that hospital thing.
Of course he's gonna collect his year-end bonus...
Bonus for what? ( rhetorical)
Year end bonus, and golden parachute, and he probably gets to continue using the Corporate jet after he "retires". It's obscene.
And the rest
Taking Elons compensation was very wrong but it opened the door for stock holder to come after this guys money.
..... but no one will
For staying quiet.
This guy gets 9 months advance notice of his firing?? These people really do live by their own rules. Must be nice at the top. Really goes to show that honesty is for the rest of us chumps.
And? Will he face jail time? Will ANYONE go to JAIL?!?
If nobody at the TOP MOST ECHELONS OF THE COMAPANY goes to jail, this will NEVER stop.
And, are we investigating for murder?
CEO's are above the law!
Just like the Biden family.
Hope, there really is some sort of investigation into that as well.
@@navalfa7291 Hunter Biden got taken to court but no evidence was found. Trump however is tripping over guilty rulings, even from judges he picked, lol
I'm just saying, you can't talk about criminal American families without mentioning Trump.
@@navalfa7291ohh please enough with that nonsense. Republicans have zero evidence of Biden committing a crime. The whole impeachment sham has fallen apart
I'm sure he has his golden parachute
He probably gets to take a jet with him as part of his "retirement" package. I'm not even joking.
No public apology? No admitting his flaws and how he crapped the bed? How he put his greed over everything else? We call these people leaders? Ha.
I despise what they have done to Boeing but the CEO has apologised for the quality control issues many times. Not that it solves the problems
The whole management team needs to go to jail for ignoring safety concerns
Any more word on the Boeing whistle blower who supposedly committed suicide? Or is that going to just be covered up?
It was a successful cover-up, nothing follows.
The investigations are ongoing but I imagine it will be hard to catch them.
Its like Epstein!
His death will be investigated, but I highly doubt Boeing wouldn’t be able to cover their tracks. More than likely they get away with it
Covered up for sure.
He’s staying till the end of the year, can you guess why? Bonus? Plus gets to walk off with a pension etc.
He has done his job the way the shareholders wanted him to do it. He made the company more diverse, and we all appreciate that. Guy is a king.
CEO gets golden parachute while paying customers get no parachute as their plane races toward the ground!
Why is David Calhoun not leaving Boeing ASAP? Why wait until the end of this year?
I wonder what the whistleblower has to say about this? Oh wait....
He commited "suicide"
Was taken out..🙄
There are more of them
Next time try hiring an engineer as CEO.
That means their friends at the top would have to have real degrees.
Put Trump in charge!!!😂🤣
That's too logical.
@@bobwoods1302 Libtards trying to bring up trump in every conversation because like:
Hire an Engineer as CEO and at least half the board.
Dude needs to face criminal charges
He mentioned retirement, NOTHING about resigning, taking responsibility, or even turning himself in for taking people's lives. He literally did a video on this.
Calhoun: "Quality first"
Boeing: “I’m sorry Dave I’m afraid I can’t do that."
Spot on
Diversity first. Quality is not as important as diversity.
@@Majan198 Stock Value first. Nothing else mattered.
@@panzerschliffehohenzollern4863 Stock value matters, but not as much as diversity. We saw this in the Bud Light advertising campaign, when the company put diversity above its customers.
And he has the gall to hang on to his position until end of the year instead of leaving now.
They all leave with a golden parachute. Multi million dollar severance packages.
The fact the he resigned right after they murdered a whistleblower is not a coincidence.
Lol. You don't murder a whistle blower after they already did all the whistle blowing. Take off you tinfoil hat and understand what a burden he must have borne all this while trying to make it better.
He stated he would not commit suicide
It was a message to other would-be whistle blowers.
He was late to testify in court when they found the body.@@soccerguy2433
@@soccerguy2433 you do know he was about to go to court , he had lots to say , publicly ..
greed is a dangerous thing.... boeing executives are the root of the problem.
Too little too late , what a shame
If he leaves with a BONUS…that will be criminal since this was on his watch.
This doesn't change the fact a former employee was murdered for highlighting quality issues
What info do you have?
@@alexrebmann1253 info? he leaked the info publicly. then he dies mysteriously. there is your info.
Last CEO that resigned under pressure due to the 737 max crashes at that time did so with $60 million. Some punishment. Wonder how this CEO who had a mandate to restore Boeings quality and safety culture will do. Probably like a bandit, thats how accountability works these days.
Why not resign effective immediately?
Bonus
Yes,indeed.Maybe bonus as others ,say.
He will still be paid a bumper package for doing absolutely bad work!!!
"Falling on his sword" - that's the suicide Roman legionaries chose when defeated. Stepping down by the end of the year with a bonus really, really isn't falling on your sword, it's running away with money and not being accountable. The other guy calls the move symbolic, like it's something positive. No - it's a gesture at best, and to be honest an infuriatingly non-consequential. The BBC sounds like they are paid to paint a picture here. I will avoid flying Boeing for the forseeable future.
Gotta sack everyone from McDonnell Douglas
It seems like Boeing's issues are more than just the CEO, which I'm sure will walk away with a King's ransom in a severance package - the board seems equally responsible. The problem is putting profit and speed above everything else. Unless they fundamentally change their priorities, then it will be a different person sailing the same ship.
Times of crisis need real leadership.
CEO: I’m out
That was a very expensive door
And criminal charges are being brought, correct!?? As many people have died due to safety issues with Boeing planes, going back to the nose diving issues....!!!
Put an aeronautical Engineer in charge, please.
They would rather underpay them instead.
It will not change the DEI hiring.
@@Majan198most of the staff is white. We have the issue of white high school drop outs getting hired over skilled minorities.

In any case, anything that helps the right move forward is a good thing. If it destroys Boeing in the process, so be it.
It would be interesting to know who put the hit out on the whistleblower dude.
How many millions does he take with him for leaving due to bad performance?
Get rid of all bean counters and install engineers back in those positions.
Leave the crap for the next guy to fix.
Dont forget this dude is the same CEO who didnt even step down after the fatal MAX crashes... disgusting person really
Leaving with a giant payout 😂
This does not address the murder of the whistleblower. Someone needs to dig in and investigate that .
Gonna have to wait a few years for this one...
So he gets paid millions plus a golden handshake plus new job earning another fat salary/
All for managing a bunch of screwups in the name of cost-cutting!
Yes.
Liz Truss
Now that’s a butterfly effect… some bloke forgetting to install 4 bolts leads to the CEO leaving the company 😂
CEO didn't prioritize safety which led to the bad hire. The buck stops with the CEO.
A long line of money saving decisions at the cost of safety.
It was eventually coming. From what iv seen after boing merged with some "money making" company they went down hill FAST.
People also don’t commit suicide in parking lots.
People commit suicide in all kinds of places. When I was stationed at Fort Hood, a female killed herself in the parking lot...with a handgun. What are the odds?
They should just sell the Air division
Perfect example of not caring about the quality for civilian use but only military.

I bet you eat Pop-Tarts for breakfast @@bobwoods1302
How many years since the documentary with Boeing planes? 5 years maybe? How many planes with problems, in the air? They should go to prison, not just resign
Other than corporate greed at the expense of safety, they seem to have failed to handle the competition from Airbus ever since the Airbus Neo...
Their compensation should be cut to zero, and all bonuses paid for the past years be clawed back as well.
Lock him up
Calhoun is sticking around for his year-end bonus. The board needs to go too.
It's suspect that his approval rating on sites like glassdoor was over 75% for the company. Wonder how that was possible.
Unfortunately, this is unlikely to change anything. Boeing used to be a company run by its engineers, now it is run by its c-suite. Firing a couple of executives will not measurably fix Boeing's problems. The entire board needs to go for a start
This is only the start. US has lot many problems which are yet to be exposed. Next look into the pharmaceutical industry and insurance industry. Both are heavily lobbied similar to aviation.
Murdered the whistle blower and then walks away, the entire board of Boeing need to be jailed.
Too little too late.
This is good - but they are going to investigate the unaliving of that whistleblower, right - right?
“Unaliving”? It’s called a killing
Interesting how the management get to leave when they want.. where the staff are left to carry it…
Its just a publicity stunt to have us all believe that swapping out the "boss" will make for better changes. Company is too big for one man to change. Common sense.

It's generally good advice to listen to your engineers.
He did not resign. He was ordered to step down and leave it at the end of the year, or be fired immediately. LOL. It was not Calhoun's decision.

Door Panel, also there is the matter of Starliner which is a massive failure also.
Clearly drastic measures were needed to restore faith in Boeing. My fear is that Boeing's recent history will have negative repercussions lasting years.

NO. The ENTIRE board of directors needs to resign.
That’s what happens when recruitment is not based on merit.

Does Embraer not make commercial aircraft?
I'm sure under a "golden umbrella" that pays well beyond your wildest dreams.
Good riddance!! He should go straight to jail.
Cool, but what about the murder or manslaughter chargers
It’s dominated by Airbus and Boeing, yes… BUT what about Embraer and Bombardier?? There are 2 other terrific companies out there that are not being paid enough attention to.. mainly Embraer, one of the greatest companies talking about product quality. I believe you guys have to look what is actually around not to give like “no hopes” to people, like we have to “accept” and just stay silent
Air buss CEO holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Control Engineering
Boeing CEO has a Bachelor in accounting. Do hou really need to say more.
Corrupt criminal CEOs ruined the company; 737 Max is beyond repair. Never fly that.
Surprised he lasted this long
They will never get back to their former glory… all the skilled, knowledgable engineers have since been fired or retired and will not be going back. That’s now been lost to greed of money over actual engineering and customer satisfaction. It just depends how long they can keep it going until they finally close their doors unfortunately. So sad for such a highly regarded engineering company to fall victim to corporate greed
Aren’t shareholders and shareholders prices the actual problem at Boeing?! They concentrated on buy backs instead of safety.
I was on a Boing 737 max 9 in february and 15 minutes into the flight we had an announcement that the plane had a technical problem with the door .Some passengers by the door said they felt the air blowing through and that they could see daylight around the door. I’m scared of flying and this really shit me up,I’m only booking flights with airbus planes from now on. My flight was with ryan air sofia bulgaria to bristol uk.
I used to fly 4 times a month uk to germany but ever since that Ethiopia flight nose dived and the german wings pilot flew into a mountain i won't fly anymore. Now i take the ferry
Why did it take so long
That clown had one job: prioritize safety. If no one trusts you and your planes keep having issues, profits are a forgone conclusion.
Right the ship? When they're thousands of miles away from their main aircraft production site?
What about the board of directors!?
Better late than never.⚓️
I wish he'd leave ASAP. Imagine putting an accountant in charge of an aerospace company. Duh!!😢
Too little, too late.
For the first time i went to a travel agent and said clearly "i dont want to fly on boeing". They couldnt find me any flight not being boeing so i cancelled my booking all together. Paid 200€ more and I ordered myself an airbus ticket from the official website of the company. If its boeing i Aint going
Good for you! I won’t vacation this year either unless I can find an Airbus flight.
Current Airbus CEO is aerospace engineer. All 3 Boeing CEO, including the one coming, are either business or accounting background. Tesla CEO, or Nvidia CEO, they are all engineers from respective subjects. Engineers has vision and knowledge of product. MBAs will just keep cutting conor and find cheaper supplies. Boeing is done at this point.
