I saved up my pocket money as a kid and bought it on cassette! I was 9. My friends and I would listen to it on our walkmans and rewind the swear words HAHA! We were obsessed and had the classic original t shirts. Still sounds as exciting and remarkable to me now as it did then. Some of the best playing and drum sounds ever recorded IMO. Steven Adler had a major impact on how I approach composing and thinking about drum parts. Less is more. Focus on the song. Play in the pocket. Of course I am blinded by nostalgia but... it's a masterpiece!
The aerial POV shows off your technique. At times, it appears that your right hand is completely fumbling on the ride, but it’s an illusion. Favorite GnR solos! I can’t listen to it without air guitaring/drumming. Cheers mate.
Hey Jacob. Yeah there's a weird warp effect obviously with the gopro. I can't settle on the best angle. Speaking of illusions... best to um 'use your illusion' IMO
Steven Adler, one of the most underappreciated drummers from the late 80s. Too bad things didn't go well for him just as fame & fortune came along. He always added the right amount of cowbell too.
This is a great cover of a great song. It was their opener at Slane Castle in Ireland, 1992. I was a young teenager. My brother and I lost our minds as they ripped into into it. Watching this brings back memories of jamming on this song myself on the kit back in the day. Thanks, Andrew! Keep up the good work!!
Hello from New England Andrew....Nice job bro this song always was a banger...And seeing you play it I realized that I was missing one of the kicks during the verses but other than that I once again got it down by ear..Thx for doing these GNR vids I've played every song on this album and I'm interested in seeing how close I came to figuring the songs out...Keep em coming please....Peace from the Northeast...
@@AndrewRooneyDrums The movie is about a serial killer targeting celebrities and the band was suspected to be a target on his Dead Pool list so Clint was assigned to guard them. It's a small cameo role but all the members were in it, a producer wanted a real band that looked dirty and grungy, someone in casting saw them playing a club and offered them the gig.
Nice cover !!! Is that a felt beater on your kick pad?? You shouldn't use felt on roland kick pads... Felt vs felt will cause fricton and it will eat you pad very quick. Use plastic !! Made the same mistake on my roland td 17 kit.... Had to change the kick pad after a year of heavy use. Now with plastic is still perfect. Best regards from Chile
Hola Jorge! Gracias. He oido lo mismo pero tambien el 'hard beater' can damage the pad. I ran out of Spanish half way through my reply. JAJA Que te vayas bien!
Fun reaction as always. Had to slip this in. One of the greatest drum performances of all time: Dave Weckl & Chris Coleman with a group of all stars performing Stevie Wonders "Higher Ground." For lack of a better way to describe it this is pure unadulterated "drum porn". Even if you don't react to it watch it for yourself. A drummer like yourself has to see this.
